1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitted Pouf / Floor Cushion on: January 10, 2013 09:22:10 AM
Finished this pouf/foot rest for the Nursery we're working on, love it! I couldn't find hat I wanted in stores or in Yellow (plus they were $85+) so I made my own.  Smiley

I used three strands of Lion Brand Homespun in Golden and two strands of Stitch Nation Full o Sheep in Honeycomb held together using US 15 needles. Total I used 3 balls of each brand (as a little less yardage in the Full o Sheep, total cost $14).

I was inspired by the Puff Daddys Baby pattern but ended up using this Drops pattern as the short rows provided better shaping and easier to sew closed at the end. I just CO 28 stitches and worked in Seed Stitch instead of Garter.

I found a matching yellow sheet at the thrift store and wrapped it around an old balled up comforter to stuff the pouf. Worked great!

(I also made the side table! Blogged here)

Love this! What a lucky partner. Smiley
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Cloud Bolero, finally finished! on: February 25, 2012 01:54:06 PM
This was a hibernating WIP for over three(!) years and I finally picked it back up and finished it. Love it!

This pattern (Cloud Bolero) is offically no longer available but you can still find it via the Internet Wayback machine. Very quick knit once you get it going (requires many stitch markers). This is worked in Caron Simply Soft Quick, which I think is a very pretty yarn for the $!

Blogged here.

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Another vintage style hat on: October 26, 2011 09:40:14 AM
Thanks! I've actually just posted a tutorial on felting and blocking this hat (or any fulled knit or crochet hat) on my blog.

You can also see another version in brown I made as a donation to our animal shelters yearly charity auction.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Another vintage style hat, now with a blocking tutorial! on: August 08, 2011 09:12:40 AM

I can't stop making vintage inspired hats! Another 30s/40s style, I designed this one using short rows that flare out the front while the back brim is flipped up.

Knit using two strands of worsted weight held together (Patons Classic Wool).

After a good blocking it was finished with a grosgrain ribbon twisted around to conform to the hat shape and a vintage clear button.

Update: I've posted a felting/blocking tutorial for this hat on my blog here: http://www.pieknits.com/blog/
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: 1950s Inspired Swap Gallery on: July 18, 2011 06:02:23 PM
I got my wonderful package from LoveDovieAnn, it truly is like Christmas in July!

First up some beautiful table linens, adorable crocheted flower (I'm so rocking this hair accessorie) and the most amazing tie purse in tiki-esque print. I LOVE it! (This picture does not do it justice either)

And check out this adorable romper!

With embellishment detail. So cute and perfect for our non-stop 100+ weather here in Texas. Can't wait to wear it.

And last but not least a great altered polka-dot tee. I litterally went "yeay polka dots!" (it's kind of an obsession)

A huge thank you to my swap partner! I can't believe she put together all these fantastic goodies despite life tossing a lot of curve balls. This was a great first swap experience!

I got 2 mediums and a small done except for finishing work on all my recent flights. So I'm in good shape. Smiley I also have a 12 hour (each way!) road trip coming up. So deciding what other travel projects I can do.
