1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Half-a-hoopla on: Today at 09:37:23 AM

I was interested but I will have to think about it as my carpal tunnel syndrome is bad in my wrist right now, so embroidery is on the back burner at the moment.
Alittlemusthave - I hope you feel better! If you can't use your wrist, don't push yourself - but also don't forget you could try a hoop in some other medium that uses less wrist motion. I've seen some lovely hoops using fabric painting, applique, etc. that might be easier for you.

Would it be OK to be working on a base before partners close? Since the base is about us and not our partners that should be OK, right?
Jexxican - Hmm... the only issue would be that if you worked on it for a month it might be intimidating for your partner to match your output in just 2 weeks. If it's just a matter of timeshifting, like you have a vacation or something during 8/11-8/25, I don't see a problem, but please don't spend more than 2 weeks on it! Smiley

I think I will limit this swap to US-only for solo participants. But if any of you living outside the US can find and invite a partner from your same country and both sign up at the same time, that would be okay. Smiley

How about:
- SU from 8/4-8/11
- Phase 1 (make your base) must be mailed by 8/25 (2 weeks)
- Phase 2 (finish your partner's hoop) must be mailed back by 9/12 (2 weeks +4 days for Phase 1 mailing time), or 18 days after your partner sends if they are late.

This is really exciting! I can't wait to see how the projects turn out.
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Craft Swaps / Re: Whimsical Shrine Swap (SU 6/30-7/11, SO 8/11) on: July 08, 2014 10:59:20 AM
I put up a couple of new boards on my pinterest - one for shrines I like and separate ones for some of my themes (spoiler alert???).

I do love tiny things... and there is a lot of cool stuff in that gallery for the shring swap last year... Yeah, okay, you win! Smiley
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: 4+4+4+4 Birthday Card Swap on: July 03, 2014 03:09:53 PM
This would be a lot of fun! I always do altered Christmas cards but I never have the foresight to remember people's birthdays. Smiley I'm glad of the option to tweak categories because I almost always prefer gender-neutral cards.
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: ONGOING ATC SWAP - JUNE 2014 - Gallery on: July 03, 2014 11:34:07 AM
I received this lovely ATC from CDEeeek on my theme "dark moments in traditional fairy tales." In the Grimm version of the Cinderella story, her sisters cut off their toes and heels to try to fit into the magic gold shoe.

The poem reads:
Rook-di-goo!
There's blood in the shoe!
The shoe is too tight.
This bride is not right!

Not sure why my pics are sideways...

Here is a picture where you can see that the shoe is actually metallic gold:

This is just the kind of fairy tale moment I was looking for. Smiley Thanks CDEeeek!

This would be cool for another low-overhead swap like the ATCs I can jump on whenever I have a little free time. Smiley

Would it be done like ATCs where no tracking is required?

Haha, you guys have your lives planned out way further ahead than me. Smiley It sounds like most of those interested would rather have SU start in August. Would the 1st week in August work?

This would be my first time organizing a swap, and I am not sure how it would work to have different deadlines for international swappers. Does anyone have experience managing multiple deadlines like that?
9  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: OTT Round 24 - Signups June 30 - July 5 (noon MST), sendout by July 21 on: July 01, 2014 02:35:32 PM
I do love tiny things...
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Half-a-hoopla on: June 30, 2014 02:04:09 PM
I have never hosted a swap before, so would anyone be willing to co-organize with me?

I actually don't have anything on my swap horizon in the near term, except the ATC I have to send out by Thursday. Smiley So, I would like to try to do this pretty soon.

We shouldn't need a long crafting time, since we're going halfsies, right? Maybe
-  signups in July,  say 7/7-7/21
- Phase 1 (make your base) must be mailed by 8/4 (2 weeks)
- Phase 2 (finish your partner's hoop) must be mailed back by 8/21 (2 weeks +3 days for Phase 1 mailing time), or 17 days after your partner sends if they are late.

Is that too soon for everyone?

I don't think a point value makes sense for this swap. Do you think it would work to just ask people's Phase 2 to match or exceed the effort that went into the base?
