OK. NOT PANICKING. IT'S OK. just craft one thing at a time, yes?

One thing at a time???  How does that work?   Wink  I've got Christmas, Halloween, baby shower, and work for hire stuff all going on at once.   Roll Eyes

Class/Challenge/House Pride:Care of Magical Creatures
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Fire From Within
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques/recipe used, any fun tips, etc.)  When I think of personal struggle, I picture something trying to break through to the 'top'.  Nobody wants that to break through, but the unwanted is insistent and tries to rip through the surface anyways.  This square measures 7" square and is machine pieced using top stitch applique'.  I machine quilted this piece with red thread to make the 'top' seem like it is stretching and trying to rip apart even more.  I kids are learning how to sew, so I let my 5 year old sew the binding on.

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Advice for border colors? on: September 04, 2013 01:39:53 PM
Did you pick a color for the border?  I'm casting my vote for gray so it doesn't compete with the inside for attention.  I can't wait to see it once it's done!!

I've always wanted to be able to draw and sketch, but it just isn't my thing.  It never looks like what I have in my mind.  LOL...if I showed you pages of my journal, you'd really have a giggle!   Grin

@Mad Quilter: WOW! That's some serious quilting then - kinda explains your name then! Wink Was that winning 34 FQs - nice price!!! Cheesy I really wish I'd be living in the US as your stash prices in ANY crafts seems to be much lower than in the UK or even Germany (which in turn is usually lower than the UK as it is). SOOO jealous! Do you have a picture of that quilt?

Yes, I have a picture of that quilt.  I'm waiting until I get to 10 posts and then I'll post it under the completed quilts section.  It was fun to make.  The quilting on it is only 'in the ditch' quilting because I couldn't bend over to do intense quilting after my surgery.

Of the quilts I'm working on now, I only plan to do the quilting on one of them.  I found a lady in Utah who does long arm quilting for a penny per square inch!!....She can do all my quilting now.  Cheesy  I'll just make the tops.

@Inselaeffchen~ I have 4-5 quilts that are in various stages of "WIP", so I can only manage a throw sized quilt for this craftalong.  Currently on my cutting board are 256 4" squares ready to be pieced together for a quilt.  That quilt MIGHT be a twin sized quilt when I'm done.  Back in the end of July, I had to have my appendix removed and I made a quilt in a week....quilted, bound, everything.  It was a quilt for the Pennsylvania row by row shop hop.  I won a prize for it (34 fat quarters!!!)!  Smiley

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who listens to books on CD while they sew/quilt/craft.  Smiley

Ok, here goes nothin':

OWL Proposal---

OWL Subject & Option(if available): Transfiguration, option #1
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: "Now you see it, now you don't"
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques used, materials using, plan of action, expected timeline, etc.)  I have TONS of scraps from various quilts and projects that I've done in the past.  It's time to make them into something--a throw-sized quilt should do!
Week 1: sort through the many bags and totes of fabric scraps and decide on a pattern or look for the quilt
Week 2: start chopping up and connecting those scraps!
Week 3-4: piece the quilt top
Week 5: Machine quilt the quilt and attach the binding

Welcome to Craftster! I look forward to seeing your quilting projects! Cheesy
Thanks.  We leave for a week at the beach on Saturday, so I'm hoping to work on a couple of quilts while we are there. Smiley
