Thank you very much Smiley

I do have a little clip somewhere so people could hear how it sounds. I'll have a look where I left it.
Sad thing is that I'm a lot better at building than I am at playing! Wink

For my first proper post on these boards, I'll show off my masterpiece.

Earlier this year I build an octave mandolin, which in fact could be seen as an (irish) mandolin with a longer neck. Wink

Top is Sitka spruce, back and sides are Amazone rosewood, neck is made from Honduras mahogany. Fretboard is made from ebony, bindings are flamed maple and the bracings are made from spruce and mahogany.

I'm still busy finishing it with dozens of layers of tru-oil and I will have to polish it after that. But this is probably as finished as it will get for the pictures. Smiley

3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / New from the Netherlands on: September 01, 2013 08:40:04 AM
Hey everybody,

Just a quick intro for anybody that's interested. I'm Nathan, 23 years old. I've known Craftster.org for a long time but I've never gotten around to joining. I'm hoping to get some new inspiration here from time to time and maybe join a swap somewhere in the future.

I've been rather crafty and artyfarty all my life. Things/styles I enjoy working with are.. wood, fabrics, leather, maori designs, dotpainting and such but I've tried a lot more and will try almost anything if it interests me. Wink I've tried my hand at felting not too long ago and want to get my hands on some proper clay for sculting 'cause that's been ages. I also make the occasional bushcraft knife (handle).

Overall.. I just graduated as a woodworker. (officially it's cabinet building but I specialised in luthery) So you could say wood is my thing.. Wink

See you around! ^^
