11  Prissy purple Doris Day dress! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Notamermaid on: June 25, 2006 09:50:13 AM
This is the prissy purple Doris Day dress. It really needs little white gloves and pumps.

Full-length

I drafted the collar myself, but other than  that its from a vintage pattern. If you want the whole saga of the dress, its on my blog www.sewinginthecity.blogspot.com

again, thanks for all the compliments! This is the pattern I used. The pattern was really too big for me -  a size 18, 38-inch bust (I'm a 16).

14  Fresh n summery 50s-style dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Notamermaid on: June 18, 2006 12:01:05 PM
This is a little dress I whipped up from a fifties pattern, 'cept i modified it to give it a v neck instead of a scoop neck.

I've made the pattern a few times now, but this is my favorite so far. Green's my favorite color Smiley

15  Re: Retro-50s dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Notamermaid on: June 07, 2006 04:54:48 PM
Here's another one. Its leftover fabric that I was going to use for napkins, but that turned out to be too thin. I prefer stiffer fabric, but this dres turned out OK. I modified the pattern to make a v-neck. I think it needs a thick red belt!

16  White denim straight skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Notamermaid on: June 07, 2006 04:51:07 PM
This is a skirt I made from some inexpensive white denim to wear to work. Its been cold and rainy so I haven't gotten to wear it yet, though. Its a straight front 4-panel skirt with two back slits, one on each side.

17  Candy striped, obnoxiously colorful cropped jacket in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Notamermaid on: June 07, 2006 04:48:53 PM
This is an obnoxiously colorful little cotton jacket I made. The back is lined with the same fabric, and i made facings for it.

18  Betsy ross blouse with side tie - NOW with new blue blouse in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Notamermaid on: May 29, 2006 04:46:05 PM
I made this from the Betsy Ross side-tie blouse pattern. I'm quite pleased with how it came out. The fabric has little tiny holes in it,rimmed by black.

I did NOT do the bottom gathers, because the blouse was fitting pretty slimly, and I didnt want to risk making it too small. I also shortened the tie some cause I was lazy and wanted to cut on the fold.

19  Retro-50s dress - now two dresses! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Notamermaid on: May 29, 2006 04:43:12 PM
This is another vintage dress I made from the same pattern. This one came out perfect (except for a slight hitch when I had the fabric laid out to cut the pattern and my doggie piddled on it Sad, but alls well that ends well) because I already knew how I needed to adjust the pattern

I did NOT make the belt - I spent far too much on it this week Smiley

20  Cute jacket from leftover curtain fabric in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Notamermaid on: May 27, 2006 10:06:55 AM
I made this jacket from leftover pieces of a canvas-like material I used for cafe curtains in my bedroom. You can see the curtains in the background of the shot!

It was a vintage pattern.
