Harper was with us voting today... very monumentous day for Scotland ... We'll see what the result is tomorrow (either way I think it will take a lot of time for the country to come together again... the last weeks have been very vile comments everywhere in social media ... nasty! Sad

Fortunately not with my friends - which are on both sides of YES/NO and also my friends from England or rUK (Rest UK)).

Hi, just checking in. Apti is alive and well. I had a booth at Salt Lake Comic Con, and it was crazy! I have been really busy the last three weeks, but Apti was a huge help. I got some great pictures.

Oh gosh, I'm soooo jealous of you and Apti!!! Cheesy Salt Lake Comic Con!! Wow! Smiley

AND a photo with Madame Vastra!! Unbelievable!! Cheesy

Harper will lie a bit low at the moment ... twins have started nursery last week and will be on normal afternoon hours from tomorrow. So there will be trips to the zoo and play park and some crafting photos.

However ... and that's now a question for hlillie: We're off to London end of September for the Miami Dolphins vs. Oakland Raiders game - the weekend of send off. Are you ok for Harper to stay a bit longer with me and come back home after that weekend so I can include more photos?

Today we went to the play park before nursery, so Harper got some time on the "big girl" swings. Smiley

9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Herbology Glasshouse on: August 28, 2014 01:58:30 PM

Completed Homework: Hagrid maintains a pumpkin patch outside his hut, which produces the pumpkins used to decorate the Great Hall for the Hallowe'en feast. Although the plants aren't inherently magical, Hagrid gives them some "help" so that the pumpkins swell to the size of garden sheds by the time the feast rolls around.

For this semester I would like you to look at pumpkins and their varied uses (not just decoration). Please craft something that reminds you of the pumpkin or its seeds.

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Alchemy Dungeon on: August 28, 2014 01:57:30 PM

Completed Homework: We continue with studying the Alchemical Elements, with copper.

Copper is a reddish-coloured metal, with a high electrical and thermal conductivity (among pure metals at room temperature, only silver has a higher electrical conductivity). Copper may well be the oldest metal in use, as copper artifacts dating to 8700 BC have been found Copper was associated with the goddess Aphrodite/Venus in mythology and alchemy, owing to its lustrous beauty, its ancient use in producing mirrors, and its association with Cyprus, which was sacred to the goddess. The elemental alchemy symbol for copper is also the planetary symbol for Venus. As such, this symbol embodies such characteristics as love, balance, feminine beauty, and artistic creativity.

Study the information above and craft something using copper (or copper colored) or something that is linked with/reminds you of the goddess Aphrodite/Venus.
