1  Re: Traveling Little Visitor Swap Round 23 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Inselaeffchen on: June 22, 2016 04:14:46 AM
Very busy couple of weeks, and not the best of sleeps (Hobbit #1 keeps waking during the night and wakes me up ... hubby can sleep through anything!) meant we didn't do much.

Today was transition day for the Hobbitses from nursery (kindergarten) to primary (elementary) school ... they got to meet their teachers & class mates (we decided to split up the twins, which is the suggested way from the council here it seems).

Baranof didn't come with us, as hubby and I were sitting through a presentation, got more paperwork for the twins and had a look at more school uniform etc, so nothing really of interest for a bear.

However, here he is modelling one of the girls' school ties we purchased today. Wink

One more week of school and then we're hopefully getting to go on more interesting outings. Smiley

Oh my, PFD - hope you're all ok and no flooding again etc. So glad we went back home before "official" Hurricane season! Oh, and thanks for the photos of the girls... such great shots!! Cheesy

Wildfyre - sooo funny!! Tinkerbell was one of the girls' favorites during the trip! Hope weather will be ok for your fishing trip.

Last week Baranof and I went to the cinema to watch "X-men: Apocalypse" ... he was my "date" as the grandparents were still in Florida and we have yet to use a babysitter (so we "split date" for cinema trips at times like this - hubby saw the movie on Monday, I went on Thursday).

Unfortunately my phone refused to use the flash despite it definitely being switched on, and I arrived just when the trailers started due to having dinner with the family etc. So I took a quick photo outside the cinema where the self service ticket machines are.

I had some nice purchases this week... Baranof inspected them and liked them, I think. Wink

After months of playing Lego Harry Potter (years 1-4 only) I decided the girls are ready to get introduced to the Books. And that was of course the ONLY reason for me to buy the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Fantastic Beasts & Quidditch through the Years was on offer (2 for 7), and Beedle the Bard was just on the same shelf.. And the fact that I pre-ordered "The Cursed Child" has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a Potterhead... ummm... Wink

Laura was an amazing teacher, so I decided to make her a thank you gift. It's the first time I've used an acrylic item to use for my vinyl, and it's only the 2nd time I used the vinyl on a round surface (all those edges to smooth out!!)

Project Name: Tigger T-shirt for Supergirl

7  PICTURE HEAVY!! ;) in The Swap Gallery by Inselaeffchen on: May 28, 2016 03:05:19 PM
Baranof arrived save and sound back in Scotland. LOTS of interesting encounters, and photo ops ... and meeting up with Hattie & PFD twice was just fantastic!! Cheesy

I know I've not been the best for uploading photos during the last 3 weeks, but internet was not the best, and after all the Theme Park action I was mostly zonked out in the evenings (didn't even get ANY crocheting or knitting done ... SHAME!).

But here are a couple from the last days in Orlando... Wink

Baranof visited his distant cousin, Pooh bear and enjoyed some "hunny"... Wink

While at Magic Kingdom, he tried his hand at the Mad Hatter's Spinning Tea Cups...

He has to admit that he's NOT going to become a king as he wasn't able to pull the sword out of the stone...

Change of Theme Park ... he had a look at MiB and quite liked the Observation Decks for the 1964 World's Fair in New York

All went well... until Hubby decided to introduce him to Frozen Butterbeer... Wink

We DEFINITELY went for the (yummilicious!) alcohol-free version, but I wonder if Baranof had a bit of a sugar hangover afterwards?

Which maybe changed his personality a bit, as he agreed to spy on the not-yet-open Kong ride (hubby talked him into it)... but couldn't see much.

Ok... that's it for the time being. We're still working on the unpacking/sorting through things, so Baranof will have a nice quiet time early June ... until the mad rush of "induction days" and prep for my "Hobbitses' " start at school in August begins! Huh... names in all the clothes ... joy!!! Wink

Hi everyone. Just a reminder that HUGE part of this swap is posting in the gallery here at least occasionally. It seems like it's mostly been just a few people posting photos lately and I already have a couple people concerned because their partners haven't been communicating at all  Undecided So please please please message your partner, or if email would work better let them know and do that. And please post in the gallery, even if it's just "took my LV to work today (photo)" the point is for the LV to experience a new place.

How about a photo challenge?

Does your state or country have an official flower, animal, mineral, etc? Check the list if you don't know https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_United_States_state_symbols
and post a photo with your LV and one of them Smiley I couldn't find a list for countries. I'll look more in a bit.

If you click on the links in the Wiki they get you to the countries, too. ;-) e.g. Scotland's national flower is the Thistle (but I knew that one ;-) )

Baranof is busy every day, and he's been on Star Tours 5 (!!!) times already.

9  Herbology Greenhouse in Craftalongs by Inselaeffchen on: May 14, 2016 07:02:59 PM
Different view of the Greenhouse this time.. Wink

"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!" is a muggle proverb, and I come to use it fairly often in life.  We also know that our esteemed Professor Dumbledore is very fond of Lemon Sherbets.  For this semester I would like you to either concentrate on the lemon as a fruit as a MAIN ingredient in cooking/baking, as a scent in a bath and beauty product, use the acidity in some way (when I was a little witch I learned to use lemon juice to write invisible messages!) or focus on the proverb itself.  You could incorporate an unloved and forgotten craft material to create something you or someone else will love.

With my current field trip to Florida I decided we refresh our knowledge of the SUN again. It's by far the most important source of energy for life on earth. It is a nearly perfect sphere of hot plasma, which has a powerful magnetic field. These are just a few facts about the sun.  This semester I would like you to look into the "powers" of the sun (light, heat, magnetic) and use this for your studies. You could craft something that either uses heat (iron, cooking, etc), Light (create something that has a light source or you need light/sunshine to finish your class assignment) or magnetism (make a magnet or uses a magnet).
