1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Boo-Boos and Ouchies Swap? on: May 12, 2014 11:08:47 AM
SO, it's summer and to me that means one thing: injuries. I am constantly hurting myself, especially when it's nice outside. In fact, I just sprained my ankle by falling out of a parked car.

Would anyone be interested in a swap where we sent things related to being injured? I'm thinking we could do practical stuff or fun stuff or both. Ideas I have are:

--Migraine Survival Kit with an ice pack and eye mask and lavender pillow
--re-usable ice packs
--re-usable heating packs
--washable wraps from muslin as an eco-friendly alternative to ace bandagefs
--Personalized first aid kits
--funny quotes or wall art like Humpty Dumpty falling down
--a soft doctor bear toy for a child to hold
--a magnetic booklet to hold the doctor's number, poison control, etc on the fridge
--anything else funny or practical that is injury related

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / wists.com No Longer Available? on: May 11, 2014 02:57:01 PM
I don't know if this is the right place and apologize if not.

I was trying to look at a current swap partner's wist and got the following message from www.wists.com:

Wists, is no longer active.
Please email questions to questions |.at.| wists.com

Anyone know if the site is not there anymore or what?

Thanks.
3  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Discussion and Questions / Paint Your Own Pottery: To Swap or Not to Swap? on: May 11, 2014 02:49:37 PM
I'm curious about something. I love to go the local paint-your-own pottery place. You pay for studio time/paint/firing and the ceramic object you pick. Then you design and paint it yourself.

In your opinion, is this a store bought or hand made craft? On the one hand, it's a ready made piece and fired by a studio. On the other, you pay for it and do all the creative planning.

Would you accept this in a craft swap as a regular item or an extra? Would you want someone to tell you if it were from a paint-your-own place?

I am not planning on sending anything from one of those places any time soon, so I really am just asking out of curiosity. Thanks Smiley
4  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Making My Own Lolita on: April 08, 2014 12:16:14 PM
So, I have decided I want to get into Gothic Lolita fashions. I have a few pieces I want to buy from people, but I also want to make some of my own basics like skirts and bloomers and petticoats. Where would I find good, well-written patterns?
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / It's Con and Faire season! on: April 06, 2014 04:49:30 PM
Hi! I just want to see which other fellow craftsters frequent anime conventions, comicons, ren faires, Pennsic Wars, faerie festivals, or any other sort of convention or faire!

Where do you go?

Do you have a booth or do you just go to enjoy it as a guest?

I just came home from the anime con Tekko in Pittsburgh, PA and had a BLAST as a guest. I met several cool vendors, and hung out with some friends of mine who were vending. The crafts and clothes and art were OUTSTANDING. I bought too much stuff, and not enough stuff, there was just soo much.

So I wanted to see if any of you were there, if you sell stuff, and if I could see some of you later in the season at other places.

Cheers!
6  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / New from Erie PA on: August 30, 2013 09:38:05 AM
Hi! I'm Rhie.

I've been making things forever. And making the attendant messes forever, too. Smiley

I draw Celtic knotwork, cross-stitch and embroider geeky and fun things, sew at a basic level (skirts, dresses, ipod cases). I'd love to learn to quilt, knit and crochet. I am planning to join the Newbie Craftalong and the Fall Nerd Battles.

My favorite color is orange.

My favorite books are The Story Girl and The Golden Road by LM Montgomery

I love all things faerie, creepy, Halloween-y, fantasy and geeky. I enjoy British murder mysteries and Korean dramas and Disney movies and anime. I adore all things written. I expect those will feature heavily in my crafting! Smiley

Three months ago my boyfriend and I drove a U-haul full of my stuff from Seattle, WA to Erie, PA. It was the adventure of a life-time.

I am thinking that joining this community will be another adventure Smiley
