Alright, I've got a "What the @#$% can I do with this?" for ya's!
I work at a Hospital and they're always throwing out wonderful things. This was an old shade that was used on a street lamp from the parking lot. We recently replaced all the llamps with a new design (more carriage/period lights) from the old geometric ones. This was the last surviving one and i saved it from the dumpster. And it's friggin big. It measures 16 inches x 16 inches x 16 inches....perfect square. It's made from Plexiglass and only has a few scratches on it, no cracks. It's not water tight though (as I found out while cleaning it. It also has a 8 inch diameter wide hol, metal rimmed, so it would screw on to the pole over the light.
here's a shot to show you size comparison to my height.
Anyway, so what do you guys think. I was considering putting a glass slab on it and having a transparent coffee table, putting lights in it and having it as a light source, maybe wrapping it in fabric and playing with that angle....i dunno...my mind is racing.....any ideas?
