11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Marie Antoinette Swap? on: August 30, 2010 01:23:43 PM
Sorry guys, I just started a grad program and move half way across the country.  I can't even participate - I've had to cut way back on craftster time.  I'll be sending good vibes out into the universe for an organizer to arrive soon!

Thanks for the tip goatgoddess, I'll be trying that too.

All the houses are just amazing.  I finally finished mine up and mailed them off!  I will post pictures of the ones sent to me at the end of the week!

I have a house from TheSavoyTruffle to post.  I'm sorry about the quality of the scans.  My camera has gone MIA but I'll see if I can't edit this post for better shots once it turns up again.

The front of the house has lots of chunky bits, pearl rain drops, buttons and a bird perched on the window.  It reads on the front Here Comes the Sun (one of my favorite songs) and the back has a map of Paris with lace raindrops falling on a beautifully drawn woman, who in truth looks exactly like me.   Behind the door is a ticket to a party...just for me!

Thank you SavoyTruffle

Kartinana's house arrived!  Isn't it lovely and colorful?

I'm in love with this tag and envelope on the back and her use of postage and rubber stamps.  What language is the print?  Also on the bottom of the house there is green grass, seriously she trimmed up some grass for my house!

Hey everyone -

I just exchanged a series of PMs with loves2experiment and I think we have wonderful organizer for this swap.  Since I'm feeling the love tonight I thought I'd let ya all know that I'm excited that so many of my craftster crushes have joined in.

Come on, sing with me now:

We are the World,
We are the children,
We are the ones who make a brighter day so let's giving

Thanks loves2experiment for organizing this round.  I love to participate but I am not "organizer" material.

On my honor, I will try-
to serve up chunky goodness, on time
and live by the swap rules.

I would like to organize or join this swap but I have a crazy up in the air life right now.  But here are somethings that might help if anyone is thinking of organizing it.

First, it wasn't to time intensive because I kept the sign-ups to a minimum, about 12 people.  Next I made sure that for the most part partners where paired up by location, North Americans with North Americans and Europeans with Europeans etc.  A few people wanted to be partnered with someone overseas (like me) and that worked out.  We kept the parameters open so that partners could decide pretty much on their own if they wanted to exceed the swapping items.

Everyone completed the swap.  For the most part everyone was on time and I think the projects were amazing.   I think if the swap stays small just about anyone with a year on Craftster could do it no problem.    Pixiefirefly be daring, take it on - I'm sure you would do an excellent job.  If this swap has a second round I'll be checking in on the projects because I know it will be C'est Magnifique!

I think this is a wonderful idea.  I love the shape of the cage.

These are so adorable.

I know what you mean about investing the time and the materials in a project that someone may buy.  I think this is unusual enough and I encourage you.  If I found one of these somewhere I would buy one like it.  I think mainly because the size and shape are so unusual and because I could use it for crochet and paper art supplies.  Stylish and practical!
