I saw these online some time ago and fell in love with them.

( Id rather not but I can't not have them! Me and dye don't work well together)
But how? Bleach? dye? I'm at a total loss.

13  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Scavenger Hunt? on: February 15, 2008 05:21:32 PM
I just had this idea so i apologise if it makes no sense what so ever.

Heres my idea, A scavenger hunt!

There would be a list of stuff each person would get, and we would have to send what we collected to our partner.

15  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Help! on: January 21, 2008 12:25:15 AM
Ive started a swap, everythings going fine so far (granted it is only day 1) I have one potential swapper ( the user who came up with the original idea) who wants to participate. but being the non-brilliant one I am, I forgot to check out her profile when I set up all the dates. Her first month is over 5 days after signups end. I don't want to say "no you cant" because I goofed up, its ultimately me thats made it so they cant join in. what do I do?

My Rules;

1. PLEASE post into this thread, even just;
Hi I'm Bob, I like to dance around my house singing Saria's Song in my underwear.
Its nice when on-line to see that your participating with people not faceless usernames!

2. You MUST post at least once a week in this thread.

3. Keep in regular contact with your swapping partner!!! Some people end up talking more than others, but even if you don't become fast friends with your partner, check in with them so that they don't think you've fallen off the face of the earth. Let them know that you're working on their crafts. The more you talk to your partner the more you'll know about them and what they like.

4. PLEASE tell your partner and myself if your going to be sending late/going to be away from you computer for extended times.

5. Please don't send Blue cucco's in the mail, I don't Think customs would like it.

The crafting requirements:

Lets do 1 Large item and 1/2 small items (you may do a variation of this 2 medium and 2 small, 6 small, etc.). The terms large, medium, and small are all relative. I like to look at them from a time standpointLarge=3 or more hours, Medium=2-3 hours, and a Small being 2 hours or less.
This is so important: IF YOU ARE GOING TO SEND MORE THAN THE REQUIRED AMOUNT, PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR PARTNER FIRST!!! IF YOU AGREE TO SEND EACH OTHER MORE THAN THIS, FINE!
Now, Craftsters swapping rules:

1.YOU MUST PM ME AND YOUR PARTNER WHEN YOU SEND AND WHEN YOU RECEIVE. IF YOU ARE SENDING WITHIN YOUR OWN COUNTRY, YOU MUST HAVE A DC# (DELIVERY CONFIRMATION NUMBER)THEY COST AN EXTRA $.65-$.70 IN THE US. WHEN YOU PM TO SAY YOU HAVE SENT, BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR DC NUMBER. IF YOU ARE SENDING OUT OF YOUR COUNTRY AND CANNOT GET A TRACKING NUMBER, YOU MUST KEEP YOUR RECEIPT AS PROOF OF SHIPPING!!!

2.When you receive your swap package, you will then need to post in the gallery that will be created so that you can show off what you have received. Posting pictures is a requirement for this swap! If you don't have a digital camera and cannot get access to one, please ask your partner to take pictures before they send.

18  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting in finnish?! on: November 29, 2007 01:02:53 AM
My dad has asked for a cabled scarf for Christmas ( i know its late to start one now but ill manage some how) and Ive found the perfect cable,
from here: http://www.ullaneule.net/0307/ohjeet_brego.html
i figured id take half of the cable from the bottom chart insert the top chart into the middle and than add in the bottom of the first chart. but i wanted to know if Ive got the chart symbols all properly translated (my Finnish is limited to saying hi and swearing)

now i believe that the cable symbols are the same in finland as they are anywhere else. but Ive never seen a squiggly line or an "N" in any chart before what do they mean?

19  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Should I Switch or Should I Stay? on: November 20, 2007 12:35:47 AM
I just bought a pattern a few days ago (this one: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=202966.msg2163072;topicseen#msg2163072 )
The pattern calls for 10 skeins of Valley  Yarns Amherst (100% merino
wool, 50 Grams/109 yards)
I believe i have a slight allergy to wool (it makes me really itchy)
Ive felted with merino before and i didn't get the dreaded wool itch, would it be a good idea for me to knit a whole sweater out of merino and chance it or should i try to find a worth sub?
Ive been dyeing to use this hemp yarn at my LYS that says it knits up to the same gauge would that work or would that change the whole look of the sweater?
20  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Story time Sweater on: November 16, 2007 05:19:22 PM
I don't know if i actually like the sweater or if it just looks like it would use enough of the GIANT pile of tangled stash yarns that makes it look appealing.

But this sweater:
http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=71628&navAction=jump&search=true

but how would i go about constructing this THING? i would probably do it all i black with white designs on it( I'm not a colour type of person.) any ideas? is it all one piece or is it separate pieces all sewn together at the end?

ETA: I take back the first comment i do like the sweater (i think Undecided)
