1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Help finding the name of out of print kit? on: November 12, 2013 09:36:12 PM
Recently a friend of mine (who is obsessed with cross stitch ) let slip she has been looking for this one kit/pattern.

It's out of print and supposed to be super hard to find.

She doesn't know the kit # or name but I did manage to find a picture of it.

This year has been quite rough for myself and she's been one of the most supportive and wonderful person.

Hunting down this pattern would make an amazing Christmas gift/thank you I can think of.

Sorry about the super bad picture, it's one I found in a search that went nowhere Sad

2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Pattern Question? on: September 19, 2010 03:20:38 AM
I got a copy orf a pattern that is veryodviously vintage. And Im trying to find out just how vintage it is!
It was published by a company called "women's realm" (At least i think it was!) There's not pattern name, only SP8, which im assuming is a pattern number. Its for a set of really cute stuffed animals (Tiger, Emu, Fox, Lion, 4 diffrent birds, Fish, Zebra, Camel, Flamingo, and Elephant.)

Theres no copyright information on any of the sheets (I have all of them!) or on the envelope.

All I know so far is;

The company went out of buisness in 2001. I contacted someone in a publication that supposedly merged with "womens realm" its now "womens weekly" which looks like a UK tabloid magazine now (not something that would publish sewing patterns for stuffed toys!)

Any idea of where to start looking for info on this? Or dose anyone else have a pattern simaler to this?
3  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Stretch Fashion: Design and Patternmaking for Stretch and Knit Fabrics on: April 11, 2010 11:58:17 PM
So I've been looking at this book and so far all the reviews are positive, but i wanted to know if anyone here has an opinion on it? Or even has it! I really need to work on drafting patterns for stretch fabric (I'm not bad but i could use some work!)

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot i didn't know where to post this and it seemed like where it should belong!
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / another round of Craft for my Other or Another ? on: December 29, 2009 11:50:40 PM
Ive seen swaps with this idea before but for the life of me can not seem to find them with search!

Its a swap where you pick some one you know and you partner crafts for them and you craft for someone they know.
I figured it may cut down on what happend with the last swap i did, my boyfriend was sooo jealous i was getting stuff and he didn't!

So what do you think?

5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Vending at a bellydance event on: October 02, 2009 10:37:39 PM
I hope someone can help me, I might be vending at a bellydance halfla (the ones here are a cross between a bazaar, a party and a performance)
but Ive never sold anything in person formally before its allways been a "hey that's cool make me one?" kind of thing.

But now I'm stumped, how in the world do i set up? what do i need to bring with me?
Ive got a fairly large repertoire of stuff i like to make pants skirts tops costume bras and belts mostly. should i narrow it down to only a few things? should i take a few of everything? what kind of size range should i do? should i make up tags or just have a price list?

I'm planing to make up some business cards out of cardstock and a stamp i carved with logo and etsy ( which i haven't properly set up but will be up before the event) can i write all the information size fiber content washing instructions etc on the back?

Ive looked through the "how to display ____ " board and searched but i haven't found anything on displaying anything larger than a sweater.

a lot of the events Ive been to have a "fitting room" its usually some kind of screen with veils and fabric draped over for privacy, if there isn't one at this event should i see if the organiser would let me set one up or should i just make up a size chart?

I'm sorry for all the questions. thanks for your help!

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / My hat died today on: December 08, 2008 12:54:57 AM
I don't know what to do with this, but i just need to vent this out.

I finished my first project that i was actually willing to wear a while ago and its since become my favorite (and only) hat.
It was nothing overtly special just a grey hat with a crochet brim and a little slouchy, but it was the first thing i did with no pattern and i was quite proud of it ( proud enough i traveled for an hour on public transit to get it back from a friend where i left it once)
It's been kind of warm here lately and i haven't been wearing it, I just located my hat in the last place i would ever want to find it.
My mum washed it, and it felted.
So now i have this dull stiff grey mini hat that doesn't fit, and even if it did it just wouldn't feel right.
I told my mum she'd felted my hat (shes been doing the laundry lately) and she doesn't even seem to care.
I don't know if its just the fact that this was the first thing i made (and was extremely proud of) or if the fact my mum doesn't seem to care she ruined something i loved that's bugging me.
I feel guilty for even being this sad over a hat.
9  CANADA / British Columbia / Corset Supplies? on: November 05, 2008 05:56:33 PM

10  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Random Kindness to Strangers on: April 25, 2008 01:23:00 AM
So There is a back story to this, I'll try to keep it short.

Today i went to Tim Hortons (doughnut/coffee place) while in line a lady taps me on the shoulder and says this is for you and hand me a plastic bag filled with something. Turns out in the bag was a purse some candy and a little rubber ducky that quacks. I turned around to thank her and ask if i could buy her coffee but she had disappeared! Totally out of the blue, I'm still not sure what quite happend, and to be honest I'm still a little confused/disturbed (wrong word but you get the idea)

But I need to pass this good will forward and i wanted to do something crafty. Any ideas? I was thinking Knitting a bunch of preemie/baby hats for the local children's hospital (not quite the same but somewhat close) or possibly making up a bunch of something and just randomly going to people and going here this is a random act of kindness. Am i overdoing it?
