1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Help finding the name of out of print kit? on: November 12, 2013 09:36:12 PM
Recently a friend of mine (who is obsessed with cross stitch ) let slip she has been looking for this one kit/pattern.

It's out of print and supposed to be super hard to find.

She doesn't know the kit # or name but I did manage to find a picture of it.

This year has been quite rough for myself and she's been one of the most supportive and wonderful person.

Hunting down this pattern would make an amazing Christmas gift/thank you I can think of.

Sorry about the super bad picture, it's one I found in a search that went nowhere Sad

2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: 1905 White Family Treadle Sewing Machine -- $25 Craig's List find! on: July 05, 2013 06:22:08 PM
Thats one pretty treadle!!

I have one too! I've found it a lot nicer to sew with than an electric sewing machine, if you only want to do straight lines.

It's a singer, theres some debate on when its from exactly some places say 1905 some 1915. But it has sphinxes and Egyptian lotus flowers so I'm not going to complain about 10 years.

By the way, I let my son read the positive comments about his sewing and now he's REALLY over the moon about sewing.  He wants to create his own TV show.  He said it would be called "The Birth of Arts and Crafts" and he's been practicing his introductions for the show.  Funny kid.

Youtube channel!? I'd watch it!

Do a test, pick a small inconspicuous area, and test out what your gong to use before you do a large area. Than you'll have an idea of if it is the fabric, or the medium your using.

If you planingon doing more projects like this I HGHLY recomend looking into getting a small screen, some silk screening emulsion, a squeegie and silk screening ink.
This way you can reclaim your screen and use it for multiple things. (try your local craigslist if you have one! I got 8 huge screens, ink, emulions, squeegies and stuff I still dont know what it is for $50 through my local creigslist!)
If your only plan to do anything like this once cheap nylon fabric (but not nylon stockings!) and non-water soluable glue might be the way to go. I've never gotten this to work before but others on craftster have.

You could also try fabric felt pens (my local art store has themand there wonderfully awesoem things!) but you would need multiple pens and a lot of pacience.

Sorry that was long! Good luck!

7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Pattern Question? on: September 19, 2010 03:20:38 AM
I got a copy orf a pattern that is veryodviously vintage. And Im trying to find out just how vintage it is!
It was published by a company called "women's realm" (At least i think it was!) There's not pattern name, only SP8, which im assuming is a pattern number. Its for a set of really cute stuffed animals (Tiger, Emu, Fox, Lion, 4 diffrent birds, Fish, Zebra, Camel, Flamingo, and Elephant.)

Theres no copyright information on any of the sheets (I have all of them!) or on the envelope.

All I know so far is;

The company went out of buisness in 2001. I contacted someone in a publication that supposedly merged with "womens realm" its now "womens weekly" which looks like a UK tabloid magazine now (not something that would publish sewing patterns for stuffed toys!)

Any idea of where to start looking for info on this? Or dose anyone else have a pattern simaler to this?
