1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / where do you find vintage findings/parts for jewelry? on: March 16, 2006 03:37:02 PM
Hi everyone,
I just got back from the Salvation army, dissapointed  Sad  I was hoping for some good bargains to take apart and use to create some new jewelry, all they had in the way of jewelry was about 3 pins under a glass case.  I looked for games too, for the pieces, and all they had were 2 puzzles.  I am so excited about recycling and reusing, but seriously, I couldn't find anything!  Do you guys have any suggestions of better places to find vintagey/old stuff?  Is the Goodwill usually better?  Any other options? I am getting desperate to be creative here!  Cheesy
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Is Monsterslayer Wholesale only? on: February 19, 2006 03:43:04 PM
Hi everyone,
I was checking out the Monsterslayer website (normally I'm a Fire Mountain kinda girl  Cheesy) and was wondering if they are only wholesale?  The front page says they are a wholesale dealer but then in the payment info it doesn't say anything about a Tax ID #.  Any clue?  Thanks  Smiley
3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / getting the thrift store smell out of vintage fabric on: January 26, 2006 10:34:43 AM
I bought a bagful of nice vintage fabrics at the thrift store, but they have that musty weird smell.  Any ideas on how to get rid of it??  These fabrics are BEGGING to be made into something obnoxious and not smelly Smiley
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / ballroom dance dress/full skirt pattern? on: October 12, 2005 01:53:52 PM
I recently started ballroom dancing quite often.  The costumes are very expensive!  I am looking to make something for practicing/wearing out to dance casually.  I can't find a pattern that seems to work though for what I would like:

*has to be in womens or misses sizes...I left the Juniors  size patterns years ago  Cheesy

* full skirt, preferably circle type

* any kind of bodice

I can make circle skirts with my hands tied behind my back (I'm a belly dancer also) but I really want something that is a one piece, finished look.

Anyone seen any patterns like this?  Any ideas?  Thanks for reading!
5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / How do you let go of your creations? on: August 05, 2005 11:24:23 AM
How do you sell something you guys have worked really hard on? I'm thinking about selling some of the jewelry I make and am not sure I'll be able to let it go.  I was thinking that making a few of each piece and keeping one for myself might help?  I would hate to make something really special and let it go and then regret it.  Any ideas?
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / What size and color Softflex do you use? on: August 04, 2005 01:35:04 PM
What diameter and color of Softflex do you guys use?  I can barely find it locally, much less find anyone to ask about it.  It's kinda expensive, I don't want to buy the wrong stuff!  Thanks  Cheesy
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / what to do with a lot of WHITE sculpey on: June 27, 2005 11:21:13 AM
I have 2 boxes of white Sculpey that were given to me.  Can I mold, bake it, then paint it with something?  You can only use so many white beads and sculpted polar bears Grin
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Intergalactic bead shows! on: June 17, 2005 07:51:45 AM
Anyone been to one of these shows?  I've been to 2 of them now.  There's an admission charge ($5) but they have lots of gemstone beads CHEAP. It's worth it to me just to see all those beads!  I always come out of there with a little bag (on a budget, of course) but TONS of ideas.  Any other bead shows you guys go to and like?
