1  nautical but nice? Sailor dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by intergalacticj on: July 28, 2008 10:30:01 AM
So there is a burlesque-ish nautical themed fund raising night for the edinburgh girls roller derby and i decided to make a dress...my very first piece of clothing to sew (apart from a few t shirt projects that went wrong...) ... a week before the night out....

yeah...

in the end i didnt wear it because i didnt have time to sew the collar on as you can see plus my sister and mum thought it didnt look too great..  Embarrassed i dunno i think its ok for my first effort but will i ever get the chance to wear it??

I used a pattern for the wrap dress (newlook 6674-which seems to be made for people who have saggy boobs and no waist..or maybe its just my sewing!) and i was brave and made up the collar pattern
im glad i did it tho,im not so scared about sewing stuff now!learned a lot!

anyhoo, here are the pics...

thanks for the comments guys, i just have just above shoulder length hair and ive been wondering if it was possible to do some nice up do's and it is, yay! plus i love 40's and 50's everything.

hotbettie: those are the colours i always go for, purples, green and blues  Grin i almost always go back to purple, the last few months its been blue but after a month or so as you can see in the last pic it fades to a bright purple Grin

this is how i usually style my hair when i can be bothered styling it, excuse the totaly weird photos!
