1  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / tribal bellydance costume for firedancing on: February 21, 2009 02:33:58 AM

So i do some firedancing and wanted to make a nice costume to perform in.
I was inspired by the tribal fusion bellydance look.  I pretty much made or altered the entire outfit.  I altered some plain black pants to make them tight at the thighs and to flair out from the knees. Made a simple bronze shimmery skirt of a panel front and back. The belt started from a base from a thrift shop, i made, then added the feathered gold discs and some coins.  Made some cowrie falls to hang from my belt and from my hair.  Cut up a shirt to make sparkly gloves.  The bra was a black bikini top which i covered in brown fabric and added a metallic belt under the bust, added some gold studs on the top and some chain and coin dangles. Lastly i made a thin head band of more gold studs, added some fake red roses and red pheasant feathers and then the costume was finished : )
I also make fire toys, i made this fire umbrella from a chinese parasol.
2  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / rainbow clown costume on: February 21, 2009 02:10:43 AM

a rainbow clown costume i made.
it all started when i bought the cute hat and then had to make a outfit to match.
i used a simplicity paper pattern to make the coat and then made a tutu, and pants to match.
i've worn it a few times to do facepainting at the markets

3  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / my fluffly cold shoulders capelet on: May 28, 2008 03:02:56 AM
I made the capelet. very easy quick project, done in a day or so with not too much effort.
I want to make more, the only decision is colour, maybe a grey wool next.....
I did 2 extra rows of double crochets than what the book said, and I have 4 rows of shells, which is the same as the book.
I love my capelet. my brother says it looks like some kind of animal fur and I think I agree.
