21  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Astronomy Tower on: August 28, 2014 08:16:35 AM
Hello and welcome to Astronomy, this term we will be taking a step back from focusing on specific aspects of the night sky. It is a pleasure to have you all here and I can't wait to see what crafty magic the Heavens inspire in you.

Completed Coursework: I was lucky enough to procure an old Muggle astronomy book and this is where our assignment for the semester comes from.  What we study in Astronomy consists of things that we know. The truth my dear students, is that there is still so much we DON'T know about the night sky. We know more now than we ever have before but there is still so much to learn. This term you must tackle something unknown. Whether this means learning a new craft technique or researching some aspect of the night sky you don't know and making something inspired by it or tackle the unknown in some other way I leave up to you. Just make sure that you explain how you tackled the unknown when you turn in your assignment.

Advanced Studies *Note that only advanced study projects completed during the current term will be displayed under the completed OWL and NEWT headers*
Proposed OWLs: Option 1-Craft a star chart.  Option 2-Interpret the solar system into a craft.  Option 3-It is believed that we can only see 5% of the universe, the rest is made up of Dark Matter and Dark Energy which is invisible to us. Create something where at first glance you can only see a small portion, but when you look closer you can find the rest of the details.

22  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Slytherin Dungeon on: August 26, 2014 03:33:38 PM
The dungeon is still under a bit of construction. All students who don't want their beds full of lake water would be advised to cast an Impervius Charm on their bedding. If you don't know how, ask either myself or an older student to assist you.

To our new students welcome and to our returning students welcome back. I will be your Head of House for this term. Feel free to refer any questions to me via owl (PM), I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner.

I'd be willing to either have two partners or be in a round-robin style set up.

26  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: HP Craftalong ~Summer Semester 2014~ *JOIN ANYTIME* on: August 21, 2014 08:44:32 PM
Hi guys! I just wanted to stop in to apologize for being such a bad staff member this term. Life's gotten a bit crazy and I don't know if I'll be able to update the common room or astronomy tower by the end of term. I'm going to try and get some projects turned in, though.

I think I'm in. I really had fun last time around.

The Slytherin Common Room and Astronomy Tower are both finally updated! .:Happy Dance:. (I resolve not to let this many pages of projects accumulate again) I should be back later this week with some projects of my own to turn in.

.:Shuffles sheepishly into the Great Hall loaded down with books, scrolls, and my own classwork:. Oh dear me the semester sure has gotten away from me. I promise I'll be back next week to update the common room and classroom as well as to submit my own projects. I'll be much better next semester.
30  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Mini Altered Tin Swap Gallery on: July 06, 2014 10:37:29 AM
I received from Ramona Q the other day and prepare to be jealous.
The outside of the tin is covered in birch bark and moss

And the inside has a butterfly, a besom, a little jar of lavender, two birch bark covered books, and a little mushroom on a pin

The besom, jar, books, and mushroom are all removable

Thanks so much Ramona Q! I love it. (I can't wait to get a mini easel to display it)
