1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to make festoon blinds? on: October 18, 2010 06:38:49 AM
Thank you, I've seen that website, but Austrian blinds are different from festoon blinds in that for Austrian blinds, all the gathering is at the bottom of the blind, whereas with festoon, the gathering is up the whole length of the blind.

I'm not wanting to copy the photo exactly, it was just a good example to show the type of ruffling I want to acheive. Mainly I'm wondering about the different ruffle techniques and how to calculate how much fabric I need.

Maybe festoon blinds are a British thing!

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / How to make festoon blinds? on: October 18, 2010 01:13:28 AM
Hi

I've done a few searches on Craftster and I can't find festoon blinds anywhere, so I'm wondering if there's a different name for them that I don't know!

I apologise if there is and I've missed a whole raft of how-tos! - but I'm looking for a simple tutorial to make this sort of blind, hopefully with pictures and not too wordy because I did find one online and I couldn't follow it at all Sad

Can anyone help? - or tell me if there's a different name for this type fo blind/curtain?

Thank you!!  Cheesy

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / If I cut pattern piece on the bias will it mess up the hang of the dress? on: July 22, 2009 11:02:55 AM
Hi!

I'm cutting out a pattern for a dress and basically haven't got enough fabris. It's intended to be cut on the grain, but I have enough fabric to cut the front of the dress on the bias. If I do that, will it mess up the way the dress looks/behaves?

Thank you so much for reading!

I think they are gorgeous, and as a person who always carries tea bags with me, I can see how useful they are too! Did you follow a pattern or tute?
