Hello everyone!

I'm so happy to participate in my first challenge!  I have been sewing for 40 years and love it so much I started my own blog about it!

Here is a hanging wall organizer I made when my daughter when off to college.  I hope you enjoy!

There are so many things you can do with a wall organizer!  They are so fun to decorate with because you can match the fabric to any room in your house!  It can be used to hold sewing supplies, craft supplies, college supplies, office supplies, dvd's, magazines, makeup, jewelry  remote controls, note pads,or whatever else you need one for!

After I made this one, I sewed ribbons at the top and used a stick from a tree branch to hang it up.

Finished size 18 x 24.

Materials you will need:
44/45 inch-wide cotton fabrics:

1/3 yard peach mint-print
3/4 yard contrasting peach print (for back)
1/2 yard gold print (for pocket lining)
Sewing thread to match fabrics
1/4 yard narrow white decorative lace trim
1 yard white 1/4-inch ribbon
2 yards heavy-weight fusible stabilizer
3 white 5/8-inch buttons
Tailor's chalk or air-soluble fabric pen
Three silk flower of your choice (optional)
Narrow three branch or dowel

Instructions:

Use 1/4-inch for all seam allowances. Stitch all pieces right sides together unless otherwise stated.

Cutting:
From peach mini-print, cut two 8 1/2 x 18 1/2 pieces for pocket fronts.

From contrasting peach print, cut two 18 1/2 x 24 1/2-inch pieces for organizer back.

From gold print, cut two 12 1/2 x 18 1/2-inch pieces for pocket linings and tops.

From stabilizer, cut one 18 1/2 x 24 1/2-inch piece for back, cut two 10 x 18-inch pieces for pockets.

Pockets:
Fuse matching stabilizer piece to wrong side of one back piece.

Aligning the bottom and side edges, fuse each 10 x 18-inch stabilizer piece to the wrong side of the pocket lining.

For each pocket, stitch one long raw edge of front and lining together.  Press seam allowance towards the gold fabric.  (Illustrated)

For top pocket, fold assembled pocket piece in half and stitch bottom raw edges of lining and front pieces together

Turn right side out.  Press.  Baste across each side edge.

For bottom pocket, fold assembled pocket pieces in half wrong side and bottom edges.

Stitch lace along the seam line on front of each pocket.

Organizer Assembly:

Mark dividing lines on each pocket according to Assembly Illustrations.

Pin pockets to right side of stabilized back piece.  Baste sides and bottom of pockets in place.  Stitch along the marked dividing lines on pockets.

Leaving a 5-inch opening at center of top edge for turning, stitch front and back pieces together.  Clip corners and turn right side out.  Press.  Turn raw edges of opening to inside and stitch opening closed.

Stick a silk flower to the top of each pocket division securing it in place with a white button.

Cut two 18-inch lengths of ribbon and and stitch center of each ribbon piece to top edge of organizer evenly spaced apart.  Tie these around tree branch or dowel to hang.
