Mika's been here safe and sound for a few days, but I keep forgetting to post any pictures.   She is very helpful and has agreed to pin my hems for me as long as she can lean up against me.  She's a little homesick, but is looking forward to getting to travel for Easter.

But I couldn't help but see the potential for something cuter, something more glittery, some hearts and some fire....

So a few layers of paint later, this is what I ended up with:

2 ply wool/silk blend.

I was thinking about selling this, but I think I'm falling in love.

I'm so glad to finally be done with this one.  I started in September and the actual knitting only took about a month, but the getting around to finishing it took forever, partially due to trying to figure out how to go about blocking it in a small apartment with two evil cats, but I finally ended up getting it damp and ironing it to block it.  I finished weaving the ends in on Thanksgiving morning so that I could wear it.



Made out of an alpaca/wool blend I got for cheap on e-bay on size 7 needles.  Pattern from Folk Shawls.

So here's what I sent to bkqueen:

two really yummy smelling candles and holders

   
a scarf/wrap type thing with beaded trim - pink on one side, green on the other


roving that I dyed with a mix of Kool-Aid and Easter egg dye


and all the fixings to make her own drop spindle

This is for a friend getting married next month......this whole being able to sew and make my own pattern thing rocks....the material was clearanced down to 75 cents a yard, and I made a plus size nightie that doesn't look like something a 90 year old would wear.





unfortunately, the cheap hanger on the closet door does not do it justice, but it's the best I could come up with.

I finally made a sock...just one so far, but I'm so excited about it, I've been walking around the house in one sock.


It's a modified (I like short socks) version of the basic sock from Hip to Knit

I'm getting at least a project a day done.  This rocks!!!

I saw these at a wedding I went to with a friend and wanted a pair, but I refuse to pay for what I can figure out myself.



So now I'm keeping myself amused by tromping around in fuzzy monster flip flops (I think they need googley eyes though)

My sister collects Hello Kitty, so after Easter, I bought her a Hello Kitty Easter basket.  Apparently great minds think alike and my mom also bought her one.  Instead of returning it, I made a purse.  Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the original, but about half an hour later, here's what I got:
