1  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: Painted Dr. Scholl Sandals on: July 16, 2007 07:47:11 PM
Hi folks! Thanks so much for the compliments! The paint job took me about a day from start to finish. I think the shoes should wear pretty well but I'll post an update as soon as the sealant is dry enough to wear them. I don't think I'll be wearing these shoes every day and on long long walks so hopefully they should last awhile.

Thanks!!! I can't wait until they are ready to take a stroll. I'm already lurking on ebay for more pairs of sandals.

I've had these plain dr scholl sandals in my closet for a few years with the intention of painting them. I finally got around to it this week. The shoes still need a few sealer coats but I'm letting the acrylic paint dry for a few days before I put that on.

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Clapotis made out of sock yarn on: December 06, 2006 05:11:36 PM
It really wasn't that bad. The folks in my knitting group have called me a nut for taking on a big project with tiny yarn but I really like it.

I just finished my 4th clapotis. This one is a gift for my aunt. I used Sock That Rock again in the Garnet Dreams colorway. I'll post a pic once I block it.

Sorry guys!! I had some issues with my old site and that's where the photos were being hosted. I've reposted the photos. Sorry it took me so long!

What size needle did you use?  That looks fabulous.  I'm ready to jump on the clap wagon and have to start the glorious long project of choosing a yarn.  It's bad enuff when you have a lot of colors to choose from, but with this pattern I'm seein so  many different weights of yarn used, it's only making the decision making process that much harder.

Necia

Hi Necia. I used size 4 needles. I also did two more sets of the increase rows and about 8 additional sets of the straight rows than the pattern called for to get the width and length to where I wanted it.

I used  2 & 3/4 skeins. This one turned out pretty long, about 7 feet.

Thanks blackheathen and spiderlady. The envelopes just seemed like such great material. I couldn't bring myself to throw them away.

I just finished my second clapotis using 'Socks That Rock' yarn and just had to share. This time I used the Cobalt Bloom colorway.
