1  Re: NEWBIE CRAFTALONG in Craftalongs by PaperSongBird on: August 07, 2013 05:37:55 AM
Hi all  Smiley here are a few of my projects, i'm alittle random with my project choices so there is no real theme.

This is a finished project, one of my favorite modular origami kusudama  Cheesy i love making these things and would have them hanging all over the house if my cat didn't keep knocking them down  Cry

Excuse the fuzzy picture, i'm having trouble getting a decent shot of this. Its my first large scale quilling project, still a work in progress since every time i think i'm done i decide to add "just a few more leaves" Tongue

Lastly here is one for my gamer friends, I've been beta testing final fantasy xiv and decided i needed to create something to commemorate this, this is the symbol for the nation of Gridania painted on canvas, not complete yet as i have to go buy white paint.  Cheesy

2  Paper Owl in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by PaperSongBird on: June 12, 2013 10:34:42 AM
I've been practicing folding animals lately, so here's a cute little owl on a paper branch Cheesy
He's folded from a single sheet of 6"x6" paper using a diagram by Hideo Komatsu which can be found in the book "Works of Hideo Komatsu"

3  Cherry Blossom in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by PaperSongBird on: May 22, 2013 08:42:10 AM
This is the first Kusudama i ever folded, it's called the Cherry Blossom Ball and was designed by the very talented Tomoko Fuse. When i saw the original online i knew i had to have one, it took me some time but i eventually found the diagrams and made this.

This one is about 6 inches tall, its made from 30 sheets of paper, and is bright pink (and i mean pink, scarcely neon pink) with tiny red crystals in the middle of each flower.

I'm planning on making another of these (gifts again  Grin ) but i think this time i will be using a more subtle paper (maybe paint my own) and i will be using bigger crystal centers in a complementary color.

4  Mothers Day Rose in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by PaperSongBird on: May 16, 2013 08:23:30 AM
I felt bad when we couldn't afford a mothers day gift for my husbands mom, so i decided to make her a little gift, and since origami is my thing i thought a kusudama would be nice.

This piece is a little over 2 and a half inches tall has 12 kawasaki roses, 20 origami lily's (for the foliage) and 20 upside down blossoms (the pink flowers)
