6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: felt steaks on: August 01, 2005 08:58:31 AM
SO.CUTE.

omg. meat + felt = awesomeness!

they kind of remind me of these weird decorations my college dining hall had...except they were a little green and hung on the walls like artsy rotten meat Smiley

but yours are much, much cuter. bravo!

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Virgin Mary/Guadalupe Swap on: July 29, 2005 03:24:32 PM
magoshi--awesome stuff--especially the "pillow"(?)...VERY bootiful!  Cheesy  I have to post the pics I took of my stuff b/c my swap partner is MIA at the mo'.   i made a fingerpuppet that looked a lot like your pillow.

you guys are so talented. my stuff is mostly "glue" and "stitch by hand" and your guys' stuff is "professional" and "should be sold in a store somewhere."   Shocked

I can't wait to see what you made! Especially the finger puppet! I LOVE puppets!

I forgot to mention that, ya, it's just a pillow made from felt and then hand stitched.

Essentially, everything i made was pretty much glue, stitch by hand and paint too Smiley so not much different!

It's really, for me at least, the idea and the thought, too, and the fact that it's crafted by hand by someone cool that matters Smiley

Looking forward to seeing what you made!
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Virgin Mary/Guadalupe Swap on: July 29, 2005 11:16:32 AM
Well, since we've not heard from my swap partner, I thought I'd just share what I sent:

A wooden cigar-box purse, painted and decoupaged with the virgin along with some jewels and some lace edging. Inside was some nice starry scrapook paper decoupaged onto the box, along with a mirror. I was thinking it would be a nice place to stash some makeup or jewelry and the mirror would help ya check yourself out Smiley

Some Virgin ornaments for the xmas tree or whatever Smiley

and the best thing I made -- it took me about the entire two months to make (i stretched it out because i've been busy at work Smiley )

There are larger versions of those on my flickr if you want to see more detail.

I didn't really go hog wild like a bunch of you did, because it was my first swap and I wasn't exactly sure what to do or expect really, apart from what I read.

Oh well. I hope she likes it, wherever she is!
10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: calavera goodness on a bag on: July 24, 2005 09:41:53 PM
Very Cool work.  The Day of the Death stuff is very popular where I live.  Do you do alot on this theme?

BadBird

Yeah, i've been doing a lot of drawings and paintings in this style too -- i just posted a painting i did on the more art board:

flowers for the dead

It's really colorful and fun, while also being solemn. Smiley
