11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: swedish weaving style on: June 02, 2005 07:28:12 PM
Dear Fidget,

I'm making these when I get order from friends and family.
They all say they like the gradation I create.
Actually it takes quite a long time to decide all colors and it's difficult.
I'm happy if they're happy with my creation.

The blue one out of the new photo I put is just a part of placemat.
Different pattern from the previous one.

The smaller pink border bag was an order from a friend to store her SONY digital camera.
I have no idea for the the bigger one as she ordered the exact size!

Your complements made me smile.
Thanks, Fidget.

Dear Fidget,

In Japan, not many young people know about this craft.
They only know cross stitching and free embroidery.

Here, we call the cloth "swedish weaving cloth"
and you have to go to a special store to buy them.
Not many shops carry it.

I really like this crafting ,and I'll make different things soon!

Here's another piece I made.

Dear spaz_muse,

Hi there!
I made this while "sakura" tree were at its bloom here in Japan.
So for me, it's "sakura" gradation!
Besides, I love pink!

Dear Fidget,

Wow, you did this in 60's to 70's, too?
My mom did it, too, in Japan.
So it was all over the world, then.
That's really interesting to me.
Bach then, there was no internet so you couldn't know what was going on in other countries.
Amazing!
Don't you wanna do that again?

Dear homegirleh,

Thanks for your sweet comments.
I just learnt from the book, and it's written in Japanese.
I'm not sure if you can find any book in English.
The author is Michiko KUGE.
There're many beautiful works in the book.
I do recommend you!

Hi there.
Posting from Japan Smiley

My mom used to enjoy this Swedish weaving back in 60s.

I used 6 pink colors to have this beautiful color gradation.
A lot of work!!
But I really like it.
