1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: TUTORIAL: MAKE SEWABLE FABRIC FROM PLASTIC BAGS on: July 02, 2007 08:08:47 PM
Hey guys, just wanted to say I think this is a really cool idea! I will have to try it.

I wonder if you could sort of sandwich some paper in between the plastic bags? Would you be able to see what was on the paper through the plastic bags? Hmmm... definitely worth trying out I think! It would make the fabric a little stiffer where there was paper I imagine... but if you could find mostly white or solid-colored bags and put some sort of image behind them, it might be kinda nifty!

If someone tries this, let us know how it turns out. I wish I had time to do it myself but I probably won't for a few weeks!
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: I broke every last one on: April 29, 2007 06:45:48 PM
This happened to my White. It was the timing; I don't remember what it cost to get it fixed, but we just took it in to be cleaned, oiled, etc. and that, with the cost of fixing it, was about $100.

That was about this time last year, I guess, and it's still working fine.

5  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Fabric Stash Swap SEND OUT 1 Sept on: August 12, 2006 07:43:19 PM
Woohoo, partners! I've just started school so I'm going to try to send out Monday or Tuesday after work before things get too crazy. I know I have some priority boxes around somewhere that are the right size.

My partner may get way more boring fabric than she's expecting, but I'll be SO glad to get rid of it!  Roll Eyes

Wow, I would actually love to do this but am doing my first swap already... Maybe next time. That will give me extra time to cut, heh. Smiley

Edit: I asked a silly question, ha.
7  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Fabric Stash Swap *sign ups 1-11AUG* on: August 04, 2006 05:55:33 PM
You don't have to do two others first -- this can be your first swap, like it is mine.

You have to do two swaps before you can organize one, which is probably what you are thinking of.

I'd actually like to do this one, though I *mostly* have knits I want to get rid of... I'll have to look through my stash later, I have things I will probably never use... I'm not sure how much of them.

This would be my first swap, seems like a pretty simple one. Smiley
