11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: 2 tshirts into a "corset" Alabama Chanin on: October 05, 2014 12:21:15 AM
Thank you so much for your positive responses Smiley

Sewing by hand is for me just an organisation : each time I take the subway, the train, each time I wait in a waiting room, or in front of a film, I stitch. So my project do get done quite quickly.

Thanks for the hair VG, but they're not mine, they belong to a friend. I'll pass along the compliment though....

Hello,

My husband gave me two polo neck tshirts recently, from a job he did 2 years ago. In between he used them for painting.
So when I cut my pattern I had to dealt with : avoid the brand, avoid the stains. But they were large, so it works.

I made this for a competition which says :
create a piece inspired by an art piece. I chose Matisse, because I love the birds, I love the blue, I love the simplicity. So I used this technique I love : reverse appliqué, and birds, my co-favourite symbols, with trees.

It's sewn by hand, entirely, without a machine. It's the spirit Alabama Chanin, and I love it ! The pattern is in her last book, the dark blue one.

The corset is a bit low on the neck line, so I'll redraw it next time. The sleeves are a bit funny too, but that I could sort it out directly.

14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Tops light and practical on: September 26, 2014 11:41:09 PM
I was lacking tops badly, and I wanted tops made with light-weight materials.
The sales saved me, I found those 2 materials. I made a different collars, not to make it so obvious it's the same pattern.

And now I'm quite happy because I wore them all summer, and it's the first time a hand-made item got wear so much !

15  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: question about planning for a very large embroidery project on: September 24, 2014 12:02:03 AM
My Q snap is too small.
For the hoop, you need to but a ribbon around the inferior circle. I've seen a tuto about that here.

Take it out each time you finish to stitch.

DMC floss never run with me, but if you worried, let them soak in vinegar for a night before to stitch.

Good luck ! What an amazing project !

It's really nice to explain how to do it.
It looks easier than what I thought... I might give it a go with natural dyes Smiley

Thanks, I'll make them smaller next time, to see if I can make a brooch with it.
