1  From a model of 1885 in Needlework: Completed Projects by ThéaOz on: January 20, 2015 04:41:38 AM
Nathalie Dentzer set us a new challenge for the “Think Broderie” of 2015. We had a model, an extract of the “Revue de Mode”, a lady magazine of 1885. I love the fact it’s so old, that we just do what hundreds of stitchers have done before. However here the challenge for me was to stitch in a way my ancestors wouldn’t have.

And knit was really the appropriate fabric for it. I’m in the middle of a process of experimenting a lot with the reverse-applique technique, trying to see how I can play with it, so the timing was perfect. I chose two very different fabrics a medium organic one for the top and a light half knit half tencel for the bottom. So the contrast is not in colour but in weight too. I then added stitched with 2 threads remembering the fabrics and beads.

Hope you like it !

I was asked to make rings (from seeing brooches) and here they are. They're a bit big, but it's fine just for an evening Smiley

Here are some embroideries that the people doing the Stitch Along came with. I'm really glad people made it their own :

5  Metal & silk earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by ThéaOz on: November 14, 2014 01:43:30 AM
One day I found an earing in the street, I wondered how I could reuse it in a creation… and started to stitch it. Actually it’s more like weaving than stitching. I liked the result, so I started to stitch a few of them.
The metal is tibetan silver, and the thread, indian silk, I really like the shininess of it.

6  Knit top, free pattern Deer&Doe in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by ThéaOz on: November 09, 2014 11:45:34 AM
After long months of procratination I finally made this top. It has the huge advante to be free, but with the same quality as a paying one. It's perfect to wear with a jean, or most likely for me under a dress.

The material was bought at a creator sale in Paris, very cheap for the quality and the comfort it is.

I was lacking very badly tops so I'm pretty pleased it's so comfy and easy to make.

You can check it out, it's in English, and it's here :

7  Reversed appliqué Stitch Along in Needlework: Stitchalongs by ThéaOz on: October 24, 2014 12:18:07 PM
I just discovered this section, I looked for it before but didn't see it.

I'll propose a reverse appliqué stitch along in French on my blog, from the 15th of November, for 4 weeks.

If enough people are interested by a small project to try their hand at this technique, I can translate the lot in English.

Please let me know if you're interested Smiley We'll stitch together a Moleskine cover.

Few pics of the technique :

These are zardosi brooches I made with beads and metallic threads, with my own design.
I'm quite pleased with the way it looks as it's the first time I design from A to Z something.
My daughter already choose and had a birthday before I've been able to take the picture... I made 16th in total Smiley

9  Hand quilted pencil case in Quilting: Completed Projects by ThéaOz on: October 14, 2014 05:43:42 AM
My daughter is nearly 10 (on Saturday) and she loved a cushion I did with this specific material.

So I wanted to surprised her with an unexpected gift : I used the scrap left over and made a pencil case. I really like to hand-quilt small project, it's very soothing for the soul. And I like the way it looks now.

If you want to do one, please ask, I'll make a drawing Smiley

Here it is :

10  Rag quilt with denim and a saree in Quilting: Completed Projects by ThéaOz on: October 08, 2014 01:23:39 AM
I had a lot of old jeans to use, this saree was in my drawer since 12 years so I made a good use of them.
Inside there is a fleece, like that it is warm.

I love the effect rendered by the different shades of blue. I prefer it over the first one I made, with a lot of different materials.
