1  UNITED STATES / Alaska / Apu student craft sale - Anchorage, first friday on: December 04, 2007 01:45:22 AM
Thought some of you might be interested in swinging by Apus craft sale, as crafters yourselves. If anyone is interested in buying  handmade craft projects, Alaska Pacific University is hosting a craft bazaar  selling students work on Friday (Dec 7) from 4-7. It'll be a small event, but I know students would appreciate any public or sales. So if your doing First friday, and/or checking out the regular galleries on campus, please take the time to swing by the Atwood Center Building. One of our students is providing live music.

Also, if any of you are local crafters (anchorage) that would be willing to do a volunteer presentation for our Art Club, let me know, that would be awesome.

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / lighter holder keychains??? on: November 21, 2005 02:03:38 PM
As always, I have an idea, and not much idea on how to make it happen.
SO yes, I have a lot of coworkers that smoke, and can never remember to bring lighters, so for christmas id like to get make them some kind of keychain that could hold a lighter, and maybe three or four cigarettes..

The best ive colme up with is a little stuffed animal with a little bit of batting and a hollow inside, and maybe a zipper.. so they could put the cigarettes and lighter inside and zip it closed. Im not sure if that would really work, and if you can buy keychain blanks, or if id just have to make them with a loop.

SO basically, any ideas would be helpful at this point, because im not even sure this is possible.
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / ?? Quilt Block A Month GIft SEt (gift)?? on: November 21, 2005 01:54:15 PM
My mother is very into crafting, and has just about all the quilting supplies ever, but she asked for quilting stuff for Christmas.  So I think I want to make her a "quilt block a month kit" ( original at http://www.keepsakequilting.com/KQShopping/deptpage.asp?title=Block+of+the+Month&subject=U3&catpos=3) since i could never afford one.
So, i was wondering if their were any websites for i could get free patterns for seasonal themed quilt blocks, and if anyone had any ideas on how to make this nice? I was thinking buy fabric, and patterns, and ziplock one for each month in a box, but im not sure if thats nice enough.

8  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 5 ENTRIES / For the love of trees.. on: August 24, 2005 06:14:58 PM
Okay so, sad as it be, this is my entry..  *waits for laughing at its pitifulness to cease.*   I just wanted to be included, and prove that toilet paper can be used alternatively..

Im big into tree -love/recycling..and so this projects was inspired by my friends, who have decided that toilet paper usage is probably one of the ways we waste trees.. i think they may have been teasing me..
So i decided that giving up toilet paper is something that no one should have to give up.. so ive been trying to create ways to reuse it (dont worry, im y experimenting with clean tp) .. and therefore..

Its a bracelet, *yay.*

please ignore my fat wrist..

and look at pony, who is a way pimper model..

A close up of texture

I have determined that when reinforced it can be knitted!

First I stole the toilet paper from the potty at my home, then i used scotch tape to reinforce it, because the sheets kept ripping apart. Then i played around for a bit, and realized loose knitted was the best technique. (I used size 6 metal kneedles.)

It was originally going to be a cuff, but it just seemed right so i stopped.
Its not properly bound-off, as im uber untalented, but i incorporated dental floos, so you'd never have known if i hadnt told you. Maybe ill get points for ingenuity now?

SO yes, comment please, cause id feel special then..
