1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Foreign Exchange swap 2 GALLERY! on: August 14, 2007 08:28:31 AM
Long overdue photos of my wonderful angel package for jessvict!
I've got a great Mondrian-esque shoulder bag, Lovely poly-clay covered pens and Brochures on her area:::

There's still a lovingly decoupaged notebook covered with pictures of flowers and a big-beaded necklace. Unfortunately my mom's the one who kept those so I can't put up pics of those but trust me, they're really nice! My mum was so impressed that she made me take out all these stuff to show off to my cousins and uncles/aunties when they come visit. Thanks a lot for angeling, jessvict, and thanks for the mods for getting me an angel!

I haven't received - maybe the package had gotten lost in the mail. Oh well, it's been fun looking at packages in this swap though!

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Spring cami (feat. matryoshka and caffeine molecule!) - art on stained camis on: March 26, 2007 11:24:38 AM
Yup it's the laundry marker used to mark clothing for camping / for students in boarding schools (that's how I discovered the existence of laundry markers). I got mine off ebay - the one stop shopping place!  Grin
Actually maybe normal sharpie might work as well?

Btw, I came across these on the Harajuku lovers (Gwen stefani's clothing line) website. Deja vu? (might be an inspiration - it sure looks like it can be replicated using a marker on a t-shirt):

Thanks for your feedbacks guys!  Grin To tell you the truth, since I did that cami, I've been itching to take out all my other camis from the closet and draw on them. I have to restrain myself from doing them though, since:

1. I've only got very few basic tops since I never buy basics and the ratio of print tops to basic tops in my closet is like 1000:1, so I can't afford to reduce this number even more, or I'd have difficulty layering in winter/fall (which is, most of the year Sad ).

2. I'm supposed to be studying for my exams.

Oh well, actually, I tried putting highlights using bleach pen on the cami (yes I bought bleach pen on top of the laundry marker - gosh I'm spending more money on these stuff than buying a new cami, but we craftsters sometimes do that, don't we? Wink ), but the bleach is apparently not strong enough, since no matter how many times I apply the bleach, the highlight is terribly faint.

That said, I haven't tried washing the cami yet - hopefully the design would remain intact...Laundry marker shouldn't run right?

So, I have this long green cami which I really like, but one day, when I washed it with my new black tights, the black colour ran and stained my green cami! What's a craftster to do...
I decided to have fun with it: I bought a laundry marker and drew on the cami in hope of distracting people from the stains (in retrospect when I should have gone with a design that focuses more on the top part, which is stained more).

Front:

Back:

I quite like how the drawing turned out, especially since I managed to weave in my fave things - dandelion, plants, matryoshka/kokeshi, molecules (yes the plant on the right sprouts caffeine molecules, among others). I wish the fabric marker is more 'black' though - not enough contast as it is.

Worn:

Do you think I should draw more stuff on the top part of the cami to distract from the stains there? Or should I just leave it as it is?

When I saw the skirt I immediately wisted it! Such nice applique work - wish I could sew/applique or whatever. I like the Anthropologie version, but I agree with the other Craftsters - yours is cuter Smiley.
