I've never had poppet hair give me so much trouble as much as this one did.... you wont believe the amount of e6000 went into trying to get those curls! Her cape was a pain in my arse too, I used up so much time on her hair I didnt get all the detail work I wanted to get in T^T

5  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Elsa from Frozen costume (Finished!! Pic heavy) on: October 14, 2014 06:40:49 PM
Well, my 3yr old munchkin is a seriously Frozen fan, and naturally (since she's starting to understand halloween finally) she demanded to be Elsa for Halloween xD

The boddice and underskirt are made from a blue silk taffeta, the sleeves and overlay for the skirt are made from a shimmery stretch organza, and the train for the back is made with a sheer blue snowflake organza. The edges of the train are lined in a pretty shiny sliver braided trim. The pattern was drafted and designed by my grandmother!

FINISHED finally!! Including a gloriously crocheted hat with braided hair and a little crown to go with her outfit from Mama24boyz  <3

Just look at that shine it has in the sun omg!

The work in progress images as it was half done!

Riza enjoying her new outfit

You can see the trim and some of the length of the train in this one

A cute little wavy pattern on the train, just to make it a bit unique

A good view of the back (its safety pinned on for sizing atm, but you get the idea)

A better view of the wavy ends on the train

It flows rather nicely even when she's spinning around

Yup, even the split up the side was kept for my ornry munchkin

Hope you liked it! Cant wait till its finished (hahaha after halloween, it becomes her play dress!)
6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to Clean Stuffed Animals on: September 28, 2014 03:52:44 AM
I place mine in a pillowcase and wash on the gentle cycle...then I throw it in the dryer still in the pillowcase.

Thats what I've always done with mine. Though often depending on the stuffed animal I hang them up with pants hangers (you know, those ones with the cloths pin style ends they usually have jeans and such on at the store)... and let them hang to dry, others that have been through hell and back I toss in the dryer on low heat or no heat just to be sure (fake fur turns out crazy when put in the dryer on a heat setting!)

Otherwise, I use fabric softener (who doesnt like their stuffed animals cuddly soft?), and a mild detergent, and occasionally color-safe bleach if I need to treat stains (ive got a 3yr old after all haha!)

Great job!  Before joining craftster I wasn't really into dolls but you guys make such wonderful ones you're making a fan out of me! Smiley  I really love all the attention to detail, and even the pose is perfect!

Her arms are jointed at the shoulders so she's sort of posable too!

72 coats of paint? Wowee, that's dedication! Cheesy   She turned out so lovely - her dress in particular is just gorgeous. A wonderful take on a much loved character. Smiley

What can I say, I'm a bit ocd when it comes to my art, some coats were blended wet, some were allowed to dry for an under coating so the top colors stood out better =D Just wait till I put my next one up here! I've got another one in the making before I start on Anna haha!!
