I'll admit, this is not the prettiest project!  I needed something to protect by kobo screen while it rattled around my bag, and cases off the shelf are usually about £20- crazy!  So late one night I stuck this together and it has been brilliant.

I took a piece of stiff cardboard and pencilled around the outline of the e-reader twice, to make a back and front.  I laid these out and covered in duct tape, starting with wrapping the outside edges.  

I created the hinge by leaving an overlap of tape on the inside, then folding it over sticky side out around the Kobo before laying down the other cover.  Then I covered the outside of the hinge in more duct tape.

At the same time I took a piece of elastic, tied it to length, and taped it down, leaving most of it out for fastening.

I also made a flap by leaving an overhand of duct tape and then layering and cutting it.  Not sure it is needed, but it felt like it might help keep the reader secure under the elastic.

If you got some coloured tape and took your time over it, I think this could look pretty good.  In any case, it works perfectly to protect the reader in my bag and it's never come loose in my bag or gotten a scratch.  Success.

I still love Skyrim.  It's a bit late to post this now, but I was absolutely lost in the game when I made this for our wall!

It's two large circles of cardboard glued together to make it nice and rigid.  Next, a coating of gesso to prep the surface and add some texture.  I also scored into the lines in the cardboard to give it a bit of a 3D wood look.
All with acrylic> I painted the wood effect first quite carefully, then clarted on the red like I was an Imperial smithy in a hurry.  I eyeballed the design from my game inventory.  The knotwork took a bit of working out with a pencil first.

I did this about a year ago, it's still hanging on my wall.  I always meant to do a Windhelm one to match, this one was more for my bf (damned faithless Imperial) but I didn't have enough cardboard at the time and so it never got done.


Things to change; I would be to move the design up a bit - I measured in to the edge of the design, but the ears are long and leave too much empty space at the top - and use a less glossy acrylic or add in some matte medium to take the shine out.
