I have naturally dark blonde hair and when I was a kid I used to drench my hair with hydrogen peroxide solution mixed with lemon juice and I would walk outside in the sun while it dried.  It turned out very pretty and sparkly/golden.

The other day I went to sacred kitsch to buy some yummy stuff and was way bummed to see that they are closed!     Sob.

Today I was looking for another online store that was kind of similar that I also liked to shop at that had sort of similar stuff to Sacred Kitsch (genuine vintage ephemera, old gumball charm toys, skull beads & Day of the dead stuff..) Does someone on here know the name of it? I totally blanked it out. 

Their website layout uses a background color that is a sort of grayish color with a hint of purple to it.  Their logo has the silhouette of a black bird (raven?).  Kind of a nice moody Poe-esque look to it. It's not studios blackbird that I'm looking for (although they rock incredibly) and it's not an etsy or ebay store.  My google searches are not yielding me anything that looks or sounds like this place ... anyone know the name/url of the store I'm speaking of?

Wow - that's beautiful!!  When I saw the pic on the homepage I thought it was a pic of a real person on here showing off some new ink!

After a bit of a break due to some family stuff I had to attend to, the San Diego craftsters group (AKA the "Bad Girls of Craft") is back in action.  YAY!!  We met last week and it was a lot of fun.  We even had a *guy* join us - and he didn't fall asleep!!  Double yay!! 

I've enlisted the help of some of our wonderful "regulars" who have graciously offered to help moderate the board, act as general advisors for the group, and just generally help me keep on top of things a little better, so hopefully we wont have any more lulls if I have a brain fart.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about the San Diego Craft Mafia recruiting schedule. As you may have heard, we will be recruiting a limited number of friendly self-employed people at the end of August to join the San Diego Craft Mafia!!   

This is an awesome opportunity for folks who are self-employed to join an aggressive fast-paced success-oriented group that can help you reach for and attain goals that would be very difficult to do alone. It's also a great way to connect with other indie business owners on a personal level over time, and to help support one another in a variety of ways - both personally and professionally.

Aside from the impressive accomplishments of the San Diego Craft Mafia itself (The Punk Rock Craft Fair, etc.), our group also benefits from the support and association of a global network of Craft Mafias across the US and beyond (see www.craftmafia.com for more info)

Due to a family emergency, I have had to push new recruitment for the San Diego Craft Mafia out until the end of August. In the meantime though, feel free to shoot me an e-mail with your name, your business name, and your phone number, and one of us will get back to you to answer any questions you may have or to with you chat about what the SDCM is all about.

At the end of August, we will contact the people who have expressed interest and invite them to an informational meeting where we will go into greater detail about the group, it's history, it's obligations, and it's mission. Those who are interested will be invited to apply for membership at the end of the meeting if they feel the group would be a good fit for their current business. The San Diego Craft Mafia is a great source of traffic and publicity for self employed persons who already have a functioning and profitable business model, and we look forward to meeting new creative souls to work together with, learn from, and help to succeed even more!!

p.s. thank you so much for the enthusiastic welcomes!!  i am so happy to be here.  we found a little apartment right at the corner of 30th and juniper, walking distance to so much of the great stuff you guys mentioned, we're loving it.  i heard there is drunk knitting sometimes at the whistlestop, which is just behind our house. can anyone confirm/deny this rumor?

There is a knitting circle thing at the Whistlestop, it says it right behind the bar.  Does anyone here go for that?

It's true!  It's true!  It's really fun.  Nice people there.  I've been a couple times. It's right by the Grove so you can pick up some yummy yarn on the way.  They will help you out if you want to learn how to knit too. 

Beer + Yarn  = fun.
