1  Re: Inchie My Theme Round 3 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by JessKelly on: February 17, 2014 12:24:08 AM
I discovered two little gems in my post office box Smiley

Look what BigBangMomma sent me!

You'd think that would be enough, but no, she went a step further!

A beautiful branch puzzle!

And...

Look what Bradley832 sent me!

So gorgeous!

I feel very lucky since they've both done an excellent job. Thank you both very much, I really appreciate them Smiley

Would you like to see some very beautiful and cleverly made inchies? Well luckily for you (and me) I received from ChamelonHound!
My inchies arrived in a handmade card...

and when I opened the card I found...

except it was all in a jumble of peices and I had the pleasure of assembling it and discovering the beautiful bird!
Thanks ChamelonHound! It's now framed and sitting on the window sill in the laundry, I've been thinking about what to put there and this is perfect Smiley

Have a look at this everyone, I just received from mrskristina and I want to share the joy. But not the contents. That's all mine Wink

Ribbons and trimmings and beads and buttons and threads lots and lots of things. There are some particularly nice ceramic beads in there that I can't wait to use. She assembled a really nice collection of very useful and beautiful things!

Now for the handmade items: miniature stationery, handmade buttons and (can you believe it) a handmade scarf from her etsy shop! I was pretty amazed Smiley
Thanks for a fantastic swap, mrskristina Smiley

4  Re: Fabric Art Journal Pages Swap - Send out December 16 in The Swap Gallery by JessKelly on: January 06, 2014 05:43:15 PM
Don't leave the gallery yet everyone, I just received from Smmarrt!

All wrapped up with a card...

Extras (buttons, ribbons and a book made from fabric samples)...

...and the art journal page! She explained in the card that the moon is made from sewing pattern paper decoupaged onto ticking with buttons sewn on, a vintage doily was added and it's covered with organza.

A lot of work and imagination was put into this! Thank you for a really thoughtful package and thank you for putting this swap together Smiley

5  Mohair Mirror in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by JessKelly on: January 01, 2014 03:21:02 AM
Something simple to start off a new year of crafting. The picture looks a little fuzzy, but it's because the mirror is a little fuzzy since I wrapped it in mohair. I promise I didn't skin those red head juggling creatures from The Labyrinth, even though that's exactly what it looks like. I thought it would need more but it only needed two; balls of wool, not creatures from The Labyrinth Wink

It's nice to have something with a little texture to it on the wall.

6  Re: 2013 Annual DeStash-Along in Craftalongs by JessKelly on: December 04, 2013 11:23:20 PM
I've been cutting strips of fabric and braiding them to make a rag rug so that may take some time to complete but will put most of my fabric stash to use  Smiley

I've been picking up old rolls of wallpaper whenever I find them for some unknown project in the future. Also, I was given three long and narrow wooden frames, the kind with lots of spaces for displaying photos. I put two and two together and got... three (pieces of wall art). Now pretend the wall is wood paneled or painted an inky blue, that's the fantasy wall they'll be displayed on one day.

I think it's a nicer thing to look at than the phone outlet that was just sitting in the middle of the wall, not even trying to look remotely attractive.

7  a bit of borage in Needlework: Completed Projects by JessKelly on: October 20, 2013 01:25:10 PM
It's not huge (9cm by 9cm), but this is my first hoop. Last night I stitched my interpretation of a borage flower onto leather using blue, gray and silver threads. This morning I realised it's one of my favourite things Smiley

8  Re: Purse Craftalong-2013 in Craftalongs by JessKelly on: October 12, 2013 08:45:11 PM

Evening Clutch completed!

You can't really tell from the photo but the paler fabric is gray felted wool with silver threads running through it. The rest is black velvet and I re-purposed a black satin belt to add a boarder. The beads are magnetic hematite, so they're a decorative feature but also how it closes.

There have been some wonderfully creative projects being shown on here!

Belladune your colouring cases were very clever and that yarn is something special
bananaleg, I particularly like that rag rug
guadiknight, I wish I could kidnap your giant granny square
carolmb, that is a very nicely finished apron

Here's the cushion I made recently, it's a little squished because I'd been leaning against it for awhile before I remembered to take a picture  Roll Eyes

A small stash reduction project; I bound a notebook from stash papers and stitched a stash fabric cover. Just in time too, it is a gift for someone leaving on a trip overseas (so they can document their adventure) and I see them for the last time tomorrow! The rush is my excuse for the washed out photo and slightly crooked cover, but it was my first time making a journal from scratch so I was very happy with it and wanted to make sure I took a picture to share with you  Smiley
