1  Re: Favorite Book Swap Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by docnessie on: November 12, 2013 11:11:27 AM
Yay!  After what looks like some rough handling by German customs, I received my package from ale0059!  I love it!  Here are all the package contents together:

And here is an action shot of the amazing scarf, which I think is inspired by the girl on fire?  I love it!  I wish I could make things like this.

I have read each of the Hunger games books once on Kindle, but it is so nice to have the paper versions to read in the tub in preparation for the sequel coming out in theaters Smiley  I love the little crocheted doll (Katniss, I believe?) and the painting is going up in my office.  Everything is so very well done, and I am so glad I got to swap with ale0059.  Thanks so much!

PS No matter what I do to flip the image, it still doesn't work Sad  can anyone help with this?

My partner received in my first swap, so now I can post a few projects:

Battle/Challenge: September Periodic Table
Team: Wordy
Project Name:Princess Bride Cameo Pin
Project Page Link (if available):  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=428703.0#axzz2jHb6riwf
Brief Description: I made this little cameo inspired by the Princess Bride.  I heavily modified the cover art from the movie in photoshop.  It features Westley and Buttercup in the foreground  framed by trees, and a castle in the background.  I then printed the image on photopaper and added it to a cameo setting with glass cabochon.  I put a pin on the back.  The cabochon is made of glass, comprised of the element Silica Smiley

Battle/Challenge: September Starfleet Uniform
Team: Wordy
Project Name: Blue jewelry set
Project Page Link (if available):  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=428705.0#axzz2jHb6riwf
Brief Description: I made this necklace out of fabric from a blue t shirt, and created a set with glass bead earrings and fimo rose hair clips.  Of course, the color I chose is Blue!

Battle/Challenge: October Archetype
Team: Wordy
Project Name: Pink roses jewelry
Project Page Link (if available):  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=428704.0#axzz2jHb6riwf
Brief Description: I braided some jersey fabric and covered the ends by wrapping with embroidery floss.  I used some pink jersey to make some roses and hot glued them (my first attempt using only sewing was a disaster) to the braided fabric.  I made this one for a swap, but I liked how it came out so I have been making more as gifts.  The hair clips are fink fimo roses attached to a bobby clip.  I think this fits with the archetype The Creator because of course, whenever we craft we create, but also gardening is also an expression of creativity.

Battle/Challenge: September Conventions
Team: Wordy
Project Name: Princess Bride Cameo bags
Project Page Link (if available):  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=428706.0#axzz2jHb6riwf
Brief Description: What better way to show off your fandom but with a cameo themed bag!  I made these bags inspired by Westley and Buttercup from the Princess Bride.  Freezer stenciling on canvas.

Project Name: Skeletal earrings
Project Page Link (if available):  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=427187.0#axzz2dvI0hCQ4
Brief Description: I crafted a pair of skeletal cameo earrings using black polymer clay.  I painted the skeleton ladies using my trusty citadel paints: Scab red underneath and blood red for a bit of highlighting Smiley  It fulfills the prompt because of the red painting.  I like this look and plan to make some as gifts.

9  I Love You Sound Waves in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by docnessie on: August 20, 2013 12:51:53 PM
I made this as a gift for my husband (and as a craft for the nerd games Smiley).  I recorded myself saying "I love you", then used free software to be able to see how the sound waves looked.  I transferred the image to a canvas to make a very personalized piece of wall art!

10  Sugar Skull Cameos in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by docnessie on: August 20, 2013 12:36:12 PM
I am fairly new to both polymer clay and jewelry making, but I thought I would try making some cameos using silicone molds I bought on Etsy.  They seemed to be missing a little something, so I painted them to somewhat resemble sugar skulls, and even added a hint of glitter to the hair of one Smiley  I have to practice painting on something so tiny, but I am happy with the first try.  Any Advice on what kind of paint to use is appreciated, all I had lying around were citadel paints I use for miniatures!
