22  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Free School - San Francisco on: June 05, 2006 09:33:56 AM
So, my idea (which is not originally mine, by the way) is to round up a small (or large) group of people for a craft night, or Free School as I have been calling it, once a week. I have quite a few things that i would like to learn and there are a few that i could teach as well but i do not really want to spend money to acquire skills that i am pretty sure i could pick up on with a little guidance. Free School will not be limited just to craft projects but that's pretty much where i plan on starting. We will be meeting at my house in Upper Haight on Wednesday night so if you are interested, let me know. There will be beer and pretzels and a few crafting materials.   If your are interested, email me for further information.

Cheers!
Jeni

i actually got the idea from some moderm room divider somewhere on the internet that was priced at like $1200 or some riduculous price like that and it looked really cool. it would also look pretty spiffy as a wall hanging i suppose...  i did not pick out specific records for this. i actually called this nice guy that works at recycled records on haight street in san francisco and he donated them to me. haha! I know what you mean about the invasion of space in an office environment! people are always up at my desk looking at my crap. (although i do have some pretty interesting things on my desk... toys, pictures, etc..) i think that you could easily make a curtain out of the records for your cube just without connecting them horizontally as i did.

I have been lurking around this website for a few months now and I have finally decided to post something. I made this curtain this past weekend. The records are connected with ball chain and the little end thingys. Its pretty self explainatory, but if anyone has any questions feel free to email me! Thanks for looking...
