Hello, all!  I've been gone for a bit, but I'm back now!  Hopefully I'll be putting in more frequent appearances now.  We shall see. . . Tongue

Huffles, the Common Room is up to date at last!  And now, some QUIDDITCH!  And a Floo powder. . .

Ooooh!  I LOVE those patches, Fatewineroses!

Challenge: Floo Powder - Little Whinging
House: Hufflepuff
S.P.E.W. N/A
Project Name: Wisconsin Drive Washie
Project Description: We went to visit the fam in WI, and I knitted this on the way. Smiley
Project Pic:

Challenge: Quidditch - Chaser
House: Hufflepuff
S.P.E.W. N/A
Project Name: Outfit for Little Guy
Project Description: I took advantage of a Summer Event at one of the BJD sites to order a new little boy.  He'll be my first YoSD sized boy. Smiley He doesn't even have a name yet!  He'll arrive nekkid, so I made him an outfit, which Kiki is modeling tomboy-fashion.  I made a kangaroo-pocket hoodie, sporty shorts and socks. Smiley
Project Pic:

Challenge: Quidditch - Commentator
House: Hufflepuff
S.P.E.W. N/A
Project Name: Grandma's Fave Pattern, My Fave Colour
Project Description: This is an old, traditional pattern called "Grandma's Favourite Dishcloth."  My dh's grandma knitted a TON of these, but there are hardly any left now, so when we need more dishcloths, I often like to use this pattern.  I used purple for this because I LOVE purple.
Project Pic:

Challenge: Quidditch - Penalty Shot - Stooging
House: Hufflepuff
S.P.E.W. N/A
Project Name: The Third Stooge
Project Description: For the Stooging shot, I made a third dishcloth in the style of the others.  This pattern is great, because once you have one down, you don't even need the pattern anymore! Cheesy  I ran out of purple, but I just kept going in white.

OK, here's a flyby HUGE project dump, guys.  Sorry.  I hope to have time to comment more later!

House: Hufflepuff
S.P.E.W.: N/A
Project Name:Bed for Cu-Poche
Project Description:While studying the sun, I learned that the temperature at the centre reaches about 27,000,000 Fahrenheit (15,000,000 Celsius)  While working with my hot glue gun is a bit hazardous, and can burn my fingers, fortunately, it's nowhere near that hot.  I utilised my hot glue gun quite a lot while making this.  My first attempt was too large, and I didn't like the gold-paper covered foam board head and footboards, so I disassembled it and used most of the pieces to make this.
Project Pic/s:

House: Hufflepuff
S.P.E.W.: N/A
Project Name:Bedding for Cu-Poche
Project Description:In studying boundaries for charms, I decided to make a contrasting outline stitch on the sheet for this bedding.  I also learned a bit more about boundaries while making the pillowcase to contain the pillow.
Project Pic/s:

House: Hufflepuff
Class:Detention in the Dungeons -- June
S.P.E.W.: N/A
Project Name:Dress for Cu-Poche
Project Description:I made this light and airy dress for my Cu-Poche girl.  The top is crocheted from mohair and I added some light lace to the bottom.
Project Pic/s:

House: Hufflepuff
Class:Detention in the Dungeons -- July
S.P.E.W.: N/A
Project Name:Dolly Grimoire
Project Description: I hand stitched some signatures from parchment and then stitched a cover to hold them.  I had to wait to get the pentacle charms from China, though, so I finally got to finish this when my packet arrived.
Project Pic/s:

House: Hufflepuff
S.P.E.W.: N/A
Project Name:Frozen Playset
Project Description:When I cast my runes, the first one I pulled was Isa, the Ice Rune.  This can symbolise stagnation, but the good news is that with perseverance, this can be overcome.  When I finished this, Anna's cloak caused the lid to stay open and I was at an impasse.  But then I came up with the solution of using an elastic band to close it, and securing a snowflake badge (which I also made) to make it cuter.
Project Pic/s:

House: Hufflepuff
Class:History of Magic
S.P.E.W.: N/A
Project Name: Patient 'Puff Snacks
Project Description:Patient is NOT something that describes me as a Hufflepuff, but I would like it to be, so I've been working on it.  Crafting has really helped me with this!  This project required a LOT of patience because I had to wait for the cupcakes to dry before I could work on the frosting, and I had to be very patient, indeed, to sculpt the frosting, working and reworking it, and also when placing the tiny microbead sprinkles.
Project Pic/s:

House: Hufflepuff
Class:Muggle Studies
S.P.E.W.: N/A
Project Name: After-sports Snacks
Project Description: When learning about Muggle children's Soccer/Football, I found that many teams like to have someone bring a snack for the kids after they play.  With that in mind, I crafted these tiny cupcakes and muffins.
Project Pic/s:

House: Hufflepuff
Class:Study of Ancient Runes
S.P.E.W.: N/A
Project Name:Dollar Store Furniture Hack
Project Description:For this class, I focused on the rune Laguz, which has been described as the "ultimate feminine rune."  I started with a plain, unfinished piece of dollhouse furniture (first pic shows another piece I got in the same style.)  I sanded and cut away lumpy glue spots and rough edges and used pliers to pull out the wooden knobs.  Then I mixed a shade of pale pink paint and painted the piece itself, as well as some wooden popsicle sticks which I then cut and placed over the less-than-even drawer fronts. Finally, I threaded crystal beads onto gold headpins, cut off the excess pin, and glued the new "knobs" to the drawers.

Removed because I used this for a different class.  Have a steamed bun. Cheesy

Hey guys!  So much awesome stuff. Cheesy  HUFFLES, I'm waiting on one more addy, but I'm going to go ahead and mail the rest on Monday whether I have the addy yet or not.  I will get addresses and info to the other prize mailers this weekend.

OWL Subject & Option : Potions, Option 1 - Show off your ability to work with many ingredients by showcasing at least 3 different colors/pattern/textures.
Project Name: Dolly Duds
Brief Description: I used a variety of materials and techniques to create some clothes for my BJDs.
Project Picture: Here's a collage, though I made even more items not pictured or counted (not happy with them.) My proposal was to create 12 items. Here you see: Skirt and shawl, a circular shawl and crazy tights, pleated skirt, shawl and socks, undies, dress, sweater, knitted shrug and sweater (I think this dress may have been used for another project, so I'm not counting it just in case), another sweater and a sweater-dress.

Whew!  It took me much longer than anticipated.  I think next time I embark on a project like that, it will be a NEWT proposal!

Challenge: Floo Powder
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Happy Planner Accessories
Project Description: After ogling Happy Planners for quite some time, I finally took a coupon to Hobby Lobby and got one!  I scored the ONLY peony one in the store. Grin  Then I set to work playing with it.  I made a fun Alice-in-Wonderland themed charm for it, which I love!  I also took some laminated cards I'd tried out for another planner and gave them a makeover and punched and cut "mushroom" holes so they'd pop in and out of my planner.  The Little Twin Stars sticker is one I've had since I was about 8 years old.  It has precious memories for me, so I decided to laminate it to some cardstock so it couldn't get hurt.  I found some GREAT washi tape in my stash that goes with the sticker border really well, and added some little diary stickers (clouds, sun, "fly high") and made this so I can use it as a bookmark that holds a few Hello Kitty sticky notes for easy use.
Project Pics:

Class: Flying
House: Huffelpuff
Project Name: Tiny Star Dolly Plush
Project Description: I adore tiny hummingbirds, and decided to go with the size option for this class.  This star is 2.5" x 2.5" and was super fun to make.  I cut a star shape from a magic eraser (I got 50 for I think under $5 at Aliexpress) and then I needle-felted wool roving around/into it.  So.  Much.  Fun. Smiley  If you want to watch a fun, related tute, Maqaroon does a bunch.

Class: DADA
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Charming Sushi Clip
Project Description: In studying the aquatic environment of the Grindylow, I bunnytrailed onto underwater plants, and from there to seaweed and its many uses.  My fave use of seaweed to date is SUSHI!!!  I crafted this sushi planner charm on a clip in the course of my DADA studies.

AnnoyingBigSister You did an awesome job on the shirt and shoes, and I always enjoy your drawings. Smiley

Midkiffsjoy Great apron!  What a transformation! Cheesy  The flour is $$$$$, so I needed to come up with a use for the bag, LOL!  It's actually from the place it says on the bag - Heartland Mill in KS.  A bunch of us have gluten issues, but some of us can eat heirloom wheat, which is what that's from.  My husband found the mill and bought some flour from them (shipping is crazy pricey Sad  )  It's good stuff, but definitely a treat, not a regular thing.  They sell out pretty quickly each year.  When he tried to get a little more last year, it was already gone.

Your dolly is a cutie.  Will she have a face?  Or is it more traditional to imagine the features?  I bet making clothes for her will be fun. Smiley

OMG!  Your quail babies are adorable!  Smiley

Seeuudee  Those lambingtons look so tasty!  Have you ever read Possum Magic?  My oldest loved that book when she was little.  That's where we first learned of lambingtons. Smiley

Class: Alchemy
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Beedle Book Cover
Project Description:  The artwork on the Beedle the Bard cover never really appealed to me, and I loved the idea of it looking more like something FROM the wizarding world rather than ABOUT the wizarding world, so after studying lutation, I decided to use this tutorial from Sea Lemon to cover the book.  I'm really pleased with how it came out! Cheesy

Class: CoMC
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Sushi Doll Cushions
Project Description:  I was fascinated by the legend of the Hairy MacBoon.  In honour of their 5 legs, I made these 5 colour sushi pillows for the dolls.

Challenge: Floo Powder - Emerald City
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Bejeweled Dragonfly
Project Description:  I TOTALLY splurged last month and subscribed to Owl Crate for their Steampunk box (LMK if you want a referral  Wink )  The box was great and we got some really cool stuff, including a steampunk dragonfly pin.  While I really liked the pin, I thought it was a bit on the plain side and felt that the little indentations everywhere would really lend themselves to some ornamentation.  I found some catseye and goldstone beads that fit perfectly into the tail holes and wired them on with fine gold wire.  I added a few delicate watch parts, and then I used an assortment of pearly flatback cabochons and rhinestones to add some glitz to the wings.  I only filled some of the holes, because I didn't want it to be too overwhelming, and I also liked how it looked a bit older this way, like it may have lost some stones over time. Smiley
I didn't think to take a before pic, but found one online:

I have some classes to turn in already!

Class: Apparition
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Apparating Cushions
Project Description: I made 3 little dolly cushions as a set.  I had fun pairing different yarns and textures. Smiley
Project Pic:

Class: Arithmancy
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: I <3 Cheesecake
Project Description: I saw this video and got inspired to make a cheesecake!  Most of us in the fam are GF due to allergies, so I made some modifications, which I'll share in the recipe.

First of all, I made a completely different crust.  Here's mine:

25 Glutino Sandwich Cookies (or any non GF sandwich cookie if it works for you!)
5T Butter/Earth Balance/Smart Balance (I used one of the latter 2 and I would use less next time)

Crush the cookies (I used the bag/rolling pin method) and dump into a big bowl.  Add melted butter and stir.  Press into a 9" pie pan and refrigerate.  I stuck mine in the freezer while I made the filling and that worked great.

I quadrupled the recipe and it was perfect for my 9" shell.  Original measurements are in the vid link.  What I'm giving here is the quadrupled amount, which will fill your shell nicely.

320 g Cream Cheese
240 g Marshmallows

Melt these together in the microwave.  (I did it in 2 batches and it took 1 min for each, but now that I know how much it takes, I'd just do it all in one batch.)
Using a whisk, stir the filling until completely liquid, returning to microwave in short bursts if necessary (I didn't find that I needed to do so.)
Add 2t lemon juice and 120 ml milk (I used almond milk latte) and whisk together.

Fill the crust, then add oval-shaped dabs of strawberry ice cream topping.  Use a toothpick to drag through each of the dabs to make them into hearts. (Vid shows this well.)

Refrigerate until you can't stand it anymore and then devour!

I've mentioned some of the changes I'd make in the ingredients.  The coffee milk was a great milk sub (it was all I had handy, LOL) but next time I'd whisk in a T of instant coffee powder for more strength.  I'd also add a second row of hearts to the inner part of the pie.  All the same, we all really enjoyed this!  Here's a Pic:

Class: Herbology
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Lemon Bag
Project Description: I had a little flour sack (leftover from flour) that was kind of neat, but too flat to really be useful.  It had been hanging around for a while not being useful at all, so I boxed the corners, turned down the top, cut and finished an opening, and added a drawstring and toggle.  I also covered a piece of cardboard with felt to keep the bottom flat.  Then I used felt and sewed a little lemon slice with a happy face to make it more fun!

OMG I'm squeezing in one more!!  I wanted to do Buddhism and make a chakra prayer bracelet, but instead I ended up making this, LOL!

Challenge: Floo Powder -- Bangladesh
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Doughboy Doughnut
Project Description: For this project, I ended up learning about the Salvation Army, the religious aspect of which springs from Methodism.  During WWI, the Salvation Army became recognised as more than just a corner mission partly due to the doughnut girls.  I found this really cool page that explains more.  But if you don't have time, here's the gist:

"Winston argues that the doughnuts were more than just doughnuts, that they became a vernacular expression of faith in action. They 'symbolized the faith. Telegraphing notions of religion and service acceptable to the public-at-large, the doughnut evoked myriad meanings. A treat rather than a staple. the doughnut represented comfort and well-being to soldiers whose lives were otherwise marked by danger and privation. It also signified love and sacrifice since cooking was so difficult in wartime conditions. Moreover, the doughnut evoked the memories of home--linked to the family kitchen and redolent of the ideals for which the doughboys fought.' "

I made a Dolly Doughboy Doughnut Cushion. Smiley

Class: Headmistress's Challenge: May
