1  Re: Make a Purse & Fill It Round 7 Gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by AStutler4907 on: October 22, 2013 03:03:08 PM
Yesterday I received my wonderful package from Whistley! For my first swap, I couldn't have asked for a better partner!

I received this super cute purse! Pink is my favorite..and it's chevron!

It has pockets all around the outside, and 2 pretty big ones on the inside.

And the fillers:

A card holder, and a matching wallet with a pocket on the outside. Smiley

Gummy bears, Mentos, an adorable matching notepad, a cute little purse keychain, a handmade chapstick holder, cake batter chapstick, and a compact mirror/brush.

Everything was amazing! Thanks again, Whistley!!

2  Resin pieces in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by AStutler4907 on: July 29, 2013 10:58:49 AM
I've been admiring some resin pieces via pinterest, and couldn't wait to try it. I used 2 part mix, and had a little trouble. First, I didn't realize there was such a thing as "mold release", and I used the wrong molds. So I broke a couple of my pieces in attempts to get them free! But, you learn from your mistakes! Here are my pieces that made it out alive!

3  Clay Car - Nascar Contest in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by AStutler4907 on: July 11, 2013 04:01:59 PM
Previously posted this in the jewelry/clay category, but I guess it qualifies as a "play thing". My favorite NASCAR driver (Martin Truex Jr.) held a contest called "Get Lucky with Martin Truex Jr." The contest rules were to send in an item he could carry in is car to use as a "good luck charm". Last month, mine was chosen! Everyone was sending in personal "good luck charms", and my crafting gene told me to make mine! So, I hand molded a polymer clay replica of his car. He took my car to Michigan, and finished third =)

And here, is my replica sitting on top of his official race car!

4  Meet: Turanga Leela in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by AStutler4907 on: July 11, 2013 03:55:52 PM
My boyfriend is a Futurama fanatic! So, the crafting bug struck me, and I decided to modify the Poppet pattern to make Leela. She has her flaws, and i'm still not all too happy with her hair, but I think she looks pretty good! Opinions appreciated =)

5  Any Nascar Fans?? in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by AStutler4907 on: May 23, 2013 02:49:18 PM
My favorite driver, Martin Truex Jr., started a contest asking fans to send in a "good luck charm" to help him get to victory lane. After a lot of thought, I decided to make a replica of his car out of polymer clay. The finished product is barely bigger than a quarter. I mailed it today, and am patiently waiting to see if he picks it! Let me know what you think.

10  My First Poppet!! (img heavy!) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by AStutler4907 on: March 06, 2013 01:51:27 PM

After many many hours of frustration, my first Poppet has finally came to life! She has her flaws, but it gives her personality, and I had so much fun making her. She is entirely hand-stitched, and made from a knit fabric. Couldn't find suede anywhere! Please tell me what you think! =)

I started with the body, because I was a little nervous to make the head or put the cover buttons into the arms/legs.

Next, I did the arms and legs, tail, and then the head.

Added the eyes.

And just for anyone interested, the eyelashes on the left (on this poppet) came from Walmart for over $2. The ones on the right from eBay, 10 pairs for $1.83! I will be ordering there from now on.

Jointed/sewed everything on. Not done perfectly, but acceptable for a first-timer, I suppose.

I made the hair using a DVD case. Wrapped it around several times, tied a knot in the center, then cut the end.

Sewed on the wig.

Made a dress. Not my best work, had a lot of trouble with it actually. 0.o But... Poppet, complete =D

Still haven't named her. Nothing has clicked just right yet, but it will come. Comments are appreciated. Good or bad. Hope you love her as much as I do!
