21  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Wee Weka training pants on: December 13, 2010 01:18:12 PM
Training pants I made for my 2.6 year old, Azzy. I'm using old tshirts for the pants and sweat pants for the soaker layer.

Front of the boxer briefs I made. I love the style of these but they don't fit with the dappi covers we use when we go out and about Undecided

Back of the boxer briefs.

To the right you can see the brief style ones I made from a tie dye tshirt. These fit well with the dappi covers, so it's what I'll be making from now on. To get them this trim, I didn't add leg bands. Instead, I just hemmed the leg holes.

I'll be adding more to this thread as I make them. I currently have 9 more cut and ready to sew!All have been made! Looky:

The nylon dappi cover on the bottom left is what we use when we go out over the undies in case he has an accident. There is another pair of the stripey ones, but they aren't in this picture.

These are his favorites. The turtle one is the back, the front is plain gray.

The back side of his favorites.

23  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Gettin ready for version 2.0 on: December 03, 2010 08:53:30 PM
Some things I've made for our newest addition due in February Cheesy

Boppy slip cover made from a simplicity pattern. Made from fabric starry fabric scraps and a yellow bed sheet.

Crib sheet made from a red pillowcase and cowboy print scrap fabric. I've made two of these.

Laundry bag made from cowboy print scrap fabric and lined with a white bed sheet.
24  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Fleece diaper covers on: December 03, 2010 08:35:33 PM
I made these with this pattern.

Camo and red. Yes, red, not orange. My camera phone has no flash and the lighting was awful, so it came out orange:P
25  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Baby bags! on: December 03, 2010 08:30:23 PM
Some baby bags I made for our newest addition coming in February Cheesy

This first one was made from Scooby doo snuggle flannel and a tshirt. I used a simplicity pattern for it, not too sure how well I like the neck hole, I'm thinking about altering it some.

My son's Iron Man is modeling for me Cheesy

Closeup of the fabric. This was my first time sewing in a zipper too Wink

Back, I didn't have enough of the flannel so I used a tshirt.

The next 3 have an open elastic bottom instead of the closed with front zipper closure like above. I used the pattern here and really loved how they turned out!

Made from a Ford tshirt and a baseball tshirt for the sleeves.

The sleeves say "the rock"

This one was made from camo snuggle flannel that I had to serge together since I didn't have enough of it. The sleeves are from a black tshirt.

This one was made from John Deere snuggle flannel and a yellow tshirt for the sleeves.

I looooove me some baby bags! They are great for nighttime diaper changes when you are too tired to open your eyes Wink

I made all of these back in highschool...about 6 years ago Grin

I made this junior year for a poetry project. I combined a bunch of poems I wrote and painted them in the shape of a skeleton.

I made this paper mache sculpture in my sophomore year based on a doodle I drew.

Corset paper mache made in senior year. Eyeballs for nipples.

Buckles of the corset in the back

Cardboard painting I made in senior year

28  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Educational toys I made for my son on: December 03, 2010 05:50:54 PM
I homeschool my toddler and plan on homeschooling all of the children we have. I've been looking at educational toys for workboxes (or work jars, since I store all of these toys in jars), but they were all so pricey for something that seemed so simple to make. So, that's just what I did!

First up is a mailbox. I made this out of a medium priority box, construction paper and tape. Lots of tape. I would have used something to make it look nicer, but this is all I had on hand and he loves it anyway, so I guess I did good enough for him  Wink

Front. The slot right there is just the area where the top flaps of the box didn't meet up perfectly. I cut the flaps a little bit to make the slot big enough for the envelopes.

Side of box

Back of box. I cut the flap out of the bottom of the box and used a wooden bead and leather cording to secure it. This is for removing the letters.

The letters. I printed the letters A-Z on each envelope and inserted two flash cards for each letter.

Action shot Grin

The next thing I made was oreo shape matching cookies inspired by the plastic ones I saw at Target. I made them out of felt, and yeah, they aren't very good because I was really tired when I was making them and realized the next day that I didn't make them right, but my son won't let me change them, he likes them just as they are.

In this picture, the square and triangle cookies have yet to be sewn.

The last thing I made were these counting cookies. I've been wanting the crochet versions for forever, but don't have the patience or time to make them, so I made my own version out of felt and included a number to correspond with the number of chocolate chips on each cookie.

The number side

The chocolate chip counting side

Thank you for suffering through all of those bad camera phone pictures Wink
29  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Infant car seat full body support pattern on: November 30, 2010 02:08:02 PM

I'm wanting to make two of these since they are way too expensive to have on my registry when there are more important things I need. I was wondering if there was a free pattern out there or some suggestions for drafting the pattern (which I really hate doing, but will if I must). Thank you in advance  Cheesy

Per the USPS website, here are the guidelines for the envelopes:

For first class mail, the weight must not be over 1 ounce to qualify for the $0.44 postage fee (caution: if you go over the 1 ounce limit, it will cost you $0.61 for an envelope which weighs up to 2 ounces).

Size limits:
- Rectangular; length is the dimension parallel to the address.
- At least 3-1/2 inches high by 5 inches long by 0.007 inch thick
- No more than 6-1/8 inches high by 11-1/2 inches long by 1/4 inch thick
- Surcharge will apply for nonmachinable letter This means it should go through a machine that turns it at a 40 degree angle.

Therefore, to qualify for the $0.44 postage fee, the key here would be to keep it more or less flat (so that it will be machinable) and to make sure it weighs no more than an 1 oz
(gotta love those digital scales!).

Since this swap requires little or no crafting time, you have the option of signing up for either 1, 2, or 3 partners!

The Fine Print:
1. Good communication is very important!  It is your responsibility to inform your partner(s) and the organizers when you send/receive your envelopes.
2. Although this is a random swap, the general rule of thumb is to send out things which you would love to receive.
3. No DCNs will be required for this swap (because the envelopes do not qualify for DCNs), but you must agree to resend to your partner(s) if the envelope(s) go missing (for whatever reasons).
4. Everyone who signs up for the swap must post in this thread, the more often, the better so we can see what you are up to and know you are still around! Feel free to PM me if you foresee any problems so we can help you. This should not be an issue at all, since this will be a very fast, fun swap.

Also when pm'ing the organizer, please include in the swap related message 44 Cent Swap Rd 5 as the subject:
