Discussion/gallery thread

The January baby-to-be/kiddo birthday swap is for people who have children who were born in or are going to be born in January.

Who can join?

Those who:
a) have a child born in that season
b) are going to have a baby born in that season
c) people who just want to give a gift(more on this below)

How does this swap work?
Very much along the same lines of the birthday swaps. In fact, nearly identical.

Once you are approved for the swap, you create a wish list in this thread. This list should consist of medium to small sized items you would like to receive for your baby-to-be or current kiddos. You can also include a few items for yourself, so long as they are related to this swap (things like nursing pads, cloth cycle pads, mama aprons with pacifier and bottle holders, diaper bags, sling wraps, faux moby wraps, etc). You would be required to list at least ten items, preferably more, because the more options you have, the more likely you are to be claimed.

If you have multiple children that are born in the winter months, you can create separate lists for each child within your one post.

Every participant of the swap would be required to make at least 2 medium claims. Once you make a claim, you would have two weeks to send the item off. You can only have two claims out at a time, once they are received and pictures posted, you can make a max of two more claims.

By Time
Big = 3 or more hours
Medium = 2 or more hours
Little = 2 or less hours

By Size
Big = Clothing, a jewelry set, plushies, etc
Medium = one piece of jewelry, a small pouch, etc
Small = earrings, stickers, stitch markers, etc

By Price
Big = $30 or more
Medium = $10-$30 dollars
Small = $10 or less

Every one has different skill sets, so something that might be a large to you could very well be a medium or small to someone else, and visa versa.

Posting one or two big items is fine, but please, don't fill out your entire list with them. Mediums and smalls are what this swap is designed for at are what will be easier to craft in the two week time frame.

So, what about the people who don't have kiddos, but want to join?
Same rules would apply for them: They would create their own wish list of mediums for items they wish to receive for themselves and would be required to make at least two medium claims as well. However, they can only claim from lists for babies/children.

How long does this swap last?
Sign ups- December 26th 2010- January 26th 2011
Claims period- December 26th 2010- January 26th 2011
Last claim date-  January 26th 2011
Last day to send from last claim date- February 9th 2011

Where can we chat during this swap?
Discussion is held in the discussion/gallery thread. Please do not post ANYTHING here other than your list.

Are you signing up for your kiddos or as a gifter?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What information needs to be in my post other than my list?

You should put a little blurb about yourself and your kiddo(s) (unless you are a gifter only, just blurb about yourself), what colors you like/dislike, allergens in your home, things you are allergic to. Including a link to your wist or other wishlist site is very helpful. If you don't have anything like that, you could try to include a link to a picture as reference for what you are describing in your list.

Please remember to cross off items on your list as soon as a claim has been made. Thanking the craftster who is making a claim for you is also a very good thing to do at this time Wink

14  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / My first ATCs on: December 15, 2010 08:49:25 AM
Two ATCs are missing, the ones I made for the November bday swap, I don't think I have any pictures:P

Anywho, here are my first ATCs!

Made for the Sailor Moon swap:

Made for the bday swap (not the ones I'm missing, those were collage ATCs):

Also, I realize my proportions are all outta whack, but I haven't drawn in 6 years Tongue
15  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Felt kanzashi on: December 15, 2010 08:35:39 AM
My first set of felt kanzashi, made last year for craft fairs. The second set below is what I made as a custom order for a baby.

The baby ones have two layers instead of one, I think I like the look of these better. There's also a felt yoyo hair clip Wink
16  COOKING / Dessert / and the Trogdor comes in the NIIIIGHT! on: December 15, 2010 08:27:05 AM
So this past year, our 2 year old's birthday party theme was TROGDOR!

I baked the cake, hubbie cut it up and decorated it.

And since my son's birthday is in May and it's HOT here in Georgia in May, the icing melted, so this picture isn't the best representation.

NEXT year we must remember to take a picture of the cake after decorating instead of waiting until we get to the location where the icing has had plenty of time to melt in the car:P

Speaking of, next year is Star Trek TOS for his 3rd birthday. I'm making an enterprise cake and outfits for all of us to wear Wink
17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / I'm actually a hufflepuff on: December 15, 2010 08:23:20 AM
I made this for the Harry Potter RPG swap. My partner was a Gryffindor. I'm a Hufflepuff myself Roll Eyes

I learned a hard lesson on painting shirts- it takes FOREVER! I thought it would be a day project but turned into DAYS!
18  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Sewing stork necklace on: December 15, 2010 08:20:50 AM
Sewing stork necklace

I really wish I hadn't sold this and had instead kept it for myself. I still haven't been able to find the same materials I used for this necklace Undecided

The multi strand necklace shown in this picture isn't part of the necklace, I just forgot to take it off when I snapped this photo:P
19  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Daschie notecard set on: December 15, 2010 08:17:24 AM
I made this back in the day when I had an etsy store:P

20  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Reconned shirt and dress on: December 15, 2010 08:04:14 AM
Some of my older recons that I never put up on here:P

Five Iron Frenzy shirt. Made with a simplicity pattern. Further proof that pattern measurements never add up to my measurements. The front is too baggy:P Made with a Five Iron Frenzy shirt, some red cotton fabric and some black and white checkered fabric from clearance bins, and the back is made from the front of a white button up polo.

Mmmm delicious unironed gorgeousness!

This dress was made with a simplicity pattern. I used a long sleeve God squad shirt and a short sleeved God squad shirt. Didn't have enough of either for any of the pattern pieces, so I serged the HELL out of this (har har)! This was my first serger project. The straps are made from strips of cotton jersey sewn on loosely because at the time I thought it looked cool Tongue

I have to wear a belt with this dress because it isn't fitted even though I followed the pattern for my measurements Tongue Errrg! No big deal though, I LOVE that belt <3
