11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Hugh & Elizabeth DIY butterfly wedding August 25, 2006 on: January 16, 2007 07:01:48 AM
You. Are. My. Hero.

Butterflies are fabulous, and I especially LOVE the signs you made for the church!  I am going to steal all of these ideas....

Once I get a groom.

Or maybe I'll just throw myself a big butterfly party.
12  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: Paper Beads on: January 11, 2007 06:58:59 AM
Me again!  I've actually discovered that a quilling tool works amazingly well!  You can find it at most craft stores.  It's basically a metal stick with a slit in the middle...  you slide the paper in, roll it, slide it off!  If you roll it too tightly, it might stick and you lose your bead.  But all in all, it's been perfect!

I'm not sure if you'd be able to get the actual shifter from the car if you were to go to a junkyard.  But that might be worth a shot, too.

Chances are, you won't be able to get it for free, but it should be very very cheap.

Most local theaters will give away those big movie posters if you ask real nice. You can also get those little promotional signs at most video stores by asking. I was so sad to find out someone asked for the rent poster before me.

I"ve been ooking for a Rent poster forever. If you buy the DVD at Circuit City, you get a free Rent calendar. I saw it in the paper today. Grin

Those JERKS!  I totally bought the DVD and I totally didn't get a calendar!  I just might have to go in there and ask them about it.

Hmph.

I totally bought the DVD the day it came out and asked about it. I still didn't get one. I don't think they ever had them to begin with. I stood there and told the man that the only reason I was in that store was because of the calendar and I could be getting a better deal over at Target. Then I proceeded to yell "I'm really angry" and walk away with my DVD.

Okay, we'll stop the off topic chit-chat, but I just had to say:  "Hahahahahaha!"
I have one from the show, so maybe I'll just have to be happy with that...  or maybe I'll go visit my circuit city and be all like "I bought the DVD and you guys didn't have the poster and can I have one now?"

16  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Re: The best scanner...please help! on: January 13, 2006 07:24:51 AM
I don't know if you've already got your scanner, but if you don't, I'd check out the HP Photosmart line.  I actually got mine off e-bay for around 60 bucks, and I love it.  The quality is great, and the scanner/program it comes with is really user-friendly.
17  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Portable Sewing Machine on: January 13, 2006 07:22:39 AM
I bought something similar (not the same brand, but the same idea) off HSN a while back, and found it to be completely incompetant.  It was okay for small stitching, but the thread kept breaking and it was just too small to handle anything tougher than thin cotton...  it wasn't so good on the satin-type lining, either.

It really depends on what you're planning on using it for... I'm kinda crammed for space right now too, so my new (big) machine is still in a box, just waiting for an area.

Hope I helped!
18  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: The Crafty Side Of Working on: January 13, 2006 07:16:02 AM
honor, you reminded me of the stuff I get from work.  I have 3 empty bottles: Parrot Bay, Tuaca, and Crown...  I use them to save cash...  drop it into the bottle and I can't get it back out unless I break the bottle...  savings account!  I'm thinking about making the Tuaca one into a lamp, though.  Haven't decided yet.

I hear that, teapot!

I wonder how this would look with the pre-formed padded ones I get.  Hrm....
20  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Favors and placecards on: January 12, 2006 01:33:09 PM
My best friend and I are doing the place cards and favors together for her wedding.  She knows her and his family better than I, and she doesn't want favor snatching to occur...  so the placecards will be tied onto the favors (handpainted bell ornaments)...  It kinda saves a step and keeps the table uncluttered, since we'll have a centerpiece and all that jazz.

I love the storybook idea... it would be really cool if you could make it like a little photo album with your very own fairy tale inside...  computer printed pictures of you both as children, then as adults, as a couple...  and of course, with a happily ever after at the end.  That could get time-consuming and expensive, so it depends on your time and money budgets, but it's a thought.
