1  Re:need help please in Maryland by cloudbreakchick on: April 07, 2004 08:05:03 PM
Hey!  Here's the easiest way I can think of to post pictures...  after all, it works for me, so it MUST be simple!

First, register at www.photobucket.com.  It's free, easy, and all around great!  Once you register, follow the instructions they give you to upload your pictures onto their server.  They give you a pretty good amount of room, so you should be okay.

Then, they will give you 3 seperate codes.  One is a tag code (perfect for using in your "avatar" image...  you know, the little thing that you put below your username...  yeah..  It starts with an)  One is a URL image, to link directly to your image via a link.  And last but not least (trumpety sound) is your IMG code.  You can use that to paste into your yellow comment box, and viola!

Now, I'm gonna feel really dumb if I got it mixed up.  So let's hope I didn't!

Okay, so after I posted those instructions I realized I wanted to find out if it worked... I found out that not only does it work, it's actually quite easy...  Even though the overall picture comes out a bit blurry, you could even decide to cut out the blurry lines, or keep them in for a different looking thingy...  So here are the pictures that I came up with!  I don't know if they'll resize themselves once I put them on here, you might have to save them from the post and enlarge them yourself, not too hard with the "enlarge" or "zoom" buttons on said trusty photo editor.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

ta cloudbreakchick, you look alot like somebody i used to know, i had a crush on that bird for about 4 years and never got to courage up to ask her out  Cry

I think that's a compliment...   right?

I love the clock!  I want to make one!  Do you think it would be possible to make one using the record album cover, rather than the record?

I have a guy's room that I'm decorating...   well, I'm "helping" decorate, which we all know means I'm doing it..   And I want to make him a clock!...   But I want to use the cover rather than the record itself.

Any ideas, anyone?

EccentricOne:   I just figured out to have my own icon (called an "avatar", as I also recently learned)

I use photobucket.com, as recommended by another Craftster, and it works wonders!  It's free, to boot!  Simply create your album (I called mine "personal pics") and upload your image from the folder.  Then they'll give you the image URL (you want to use the URL, they give you three options), and then go to "profile", located at the top of the screen (next to home, help, search, notifications, and logout)..   in that area, you'll find a place to "upload your own image avatar" type thing...   simply copy and paste the code that photobucket gives you, and you're all set!

Just a note:  if you want to post pictures in the forums, you can also use photobucket.   But instead of using the URL link, you want to use the HTML code that they give you.  (It starts with [IMG ), and then simply copy and paste that into the lovely little yellow message box!

So glad to see that we have yet another Marylander in our midst.  Happy Crafting!

Thanks firefly for the photobucket link, I'm currently awaiting my registration e-mail  Smiley

Dumb Yahoo...   good for mail, not for pics, that's my new motto.

ETA:  I'm going to try and post the pics on here, please don't be mad if I do it wrong!

I hope it worked!
