12  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / crafty and inexpensive bird seed throw bags! on: April 12, 2007 11:07:44 AM
My friend is getting married this saturday and is scrambling to get things done as economically as possible. Today we sat and made the cutest bird seed bags for her guests to throw as the newly wed couple exits the chapel.
Supplies:
1 bag of bird seed ($5.00)
1 box of sandwhich bags ($1.00 for 150)
2 - 3 rolls of ribbon reinforced with wire - she bought on sale after Christmas for $1.00 a roll.

first we cut the ribbon into 1/2 strips on either side of the ribbon so to capture the wire. We kept the middle 'no wire' strip that resulted for a future project. The ribbon strips were cut to a lenght of approximmately 3 inches.
We cut sandwich bags into triangles (the pointed end closed and an a large open end)

We placed one tablespoon of birdseed into the sandwhich bag triangle. Twisted the bag closed and twised on the ribbon.

They are so cute! (and so cheap!)
13  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Newspaper recycling station on: March 01, 2007 12:48:44 PM
does anyone have or know of plans for making a newspaper recylcing/tying station?
dh and i had a book some time ago that described a crate with two spools of twine. one would overlap the twine at the bottom of the crate and leave enough out to tie the newpaper when the stack reaches the top of the crate.
anyone?
