Okay so I can crochet, but I love the look of knitting too and have a tendency to want to learn how to do almost all crafty things before I die. So I bought the little Learn to Knit kit with my mother in tow.
So day one I practiced casting on, the knit stitch and pearl stitch. I had issues with the cast on's being really tight, so my hands hurt like hell by the time I was done and I pulled out all my practice stitches and put it away for the night.
Day two I sat down and slowly watched myself cast and figured out I was twisting my thread, so mystery solved there. Then I practiced some more of the basics and then went to stockingknit? Here is my question after all that useless background info.
The book shows two ways to bind off. The knit way and the pearl way. I'm not clear on which one to use. Is it if the last row was knit use knit? Or is is if the last row was knit and the next should be pearl use pearl?
I had some other problems, somehow adding rows to one side and something else, but I think the rows thing is my bringing my yarn over the wrong way when I start the new row. Anyway any help in understanding this would be great.
