51  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / shrunk in the wash on: January 25, 2004 04:34:06 AM
you will need:

two old lambswool (although most wool will do) jumpers/sweaters/whatever you call them where you're from.
one washing machine
one sewing machine
about an hour and a half.

bung the jumpers in the washing machine on a 60 degree cottons wash with about half as much powder as usual.

pull them out, marvel at how small they have become.

cut them up and create a bag.

here's one i made earlier:

52  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / puppy knickers. on: January 25, 2004 01:57:57 AM
yes, i'm a brit. that's why i say knickers, and probably confused the hell out of some of you :p

but in my experimentation in the last few weeks of not being at uni yet and being really bored, i made these:

they're made from printed jersey which isn't particularly stretchy, so they look mahoosive until you put them on.

the print is of little cartoon dogs saying stuff like 'woof woof' (as dogs do) and 'sniff sniff', which my other half crudely pointed out was kinda appropriate for knickers...

i'm planning to make a cute little matching cami top for them.  Grin
53  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / bag from scrap on: January 24, 2004 04:26:04 PM
hello, this is my first post  Grin

and this is a bag i made today:

it's a very basic shape, just made out of some scrap i found while i was tidying my sewing table, which would otherwise have been headed for the bin. it left off the interfacing because i'm keeping it, and i hate stiffened bags.

it's lightweight denim, lined in printed polycotton, with a little star pocket, and a snap fastening. it doesn't have a strap yet, because i am still deciding whether to give it a denim strap, or a black webbing one.

the little label is the name of my company-to-be. it's a bit budget - just embroidered on bias binding and sewn on. i'm crap at label-making. maybe when i'm rich and famous i will be able to afford swanky labels. ha.
