I used three pairs of old jeans to recover these kitchen chairs. One was standard pale blue fade, one was a pair of silver jeans that I used to wear clubbing (!) and one was a dull blue with a brown-ish wash. I cut them into strips and sewed them together into various sized stripes with my sewing machine (this was also my first sewing machine project, I've always sewn by hand before).
I'm pleased with the results, although they're a bit wavy here and there where I had to pull them tight to staple them onto the seats. I was on a deadline as someone needed to borrow the chairs, what I might do is take them off and make them into fitted covers that can just slip over the seat pads without having to staple. Happy with them though, they look cool in my kitchen. The silver denim is a lot shinier in real life than in the pics!
