11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: For my Mother in law for Christmas on: March 23, 2009 06:43:50 PM
that is too funny... I should make a similar one for my mom.

once I graduated college (and officially moved out) my mother finally turned my room into her sewing room.  She was nice and put a bed in there for me when I come to visit, but most of the time she has a table she puts over the bed so she has a nice large surface for her cutting mat!  This weekend I was visiting home and due to the amount of sewing (costuming for a musical) she had been doing, I had to sleep in my brother's old room!
12  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / i love you ABC's on: February 17, 2009 05:58:03 PM
So anyway, I did the whole "52 things" last year for valentine's day and wanted to live up to my "creativity" from the year before and this is what I came up with...

I love you ABC's!  Basically, I came up with something significant for each letter, found a picture, and then changed the back of the card.  I used Microsoft Word and Staples "sticker paper," making the whole project ridiculously easy.  Here's a couple more pics.

And then a quick addition to the box... (it says "Dave and Katie's" now)

Anyway, it was fun to give him and he loved them.  Hope you all enjoy too!

Katie

Yet another "me too" but I sewed this one in a hot pink gingham 2 Easters ago and it came out too big!  Granted, it was a fairly easy fix.  Nice job!

Has anyone done any of the others from new look 6457?... I think the halter's really cute too but haven't tried it yet.
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Peter Rabbit on: January 13, 2008 01:20:27 PM
So my friend is having a baby and the theme of her nursery is Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit.  So, I got it in my head that I was going to knit a Peter Rabbit... annnnd I've never knitted anything more exciting that mittens, hats, and scarves so it was an adventure.  The beginning of the adventure involved finding that it was impossible to find a pattern for a Peter Rabbit as I imagined he should be from the books.  There were patterns available on Ebay from Great Britain but for some reason living in the US and having not that much time I didn't think that would work out for me.  So, I made up a "pattern."  It's knitted mostly in Lion Brand Lion Suede yarn so it's nice and soft and the sweater part is something that I can't remember at the moment but I picked up because of the color and weight of it.  It's bulky weight yarn but I knit it all on size 6 needles which was a chore for yarn thats supposed to be knit with larger needles but I didn't want his stuffing coming out! Anyway, enough with my rambling on, here's the results:

15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Soccer Dog (pic heavy) on: December 29, 2007 07:06:20 PM
He's a miniature schnauzer with an identity crisis- he thinks he's a baby.  So, all in all, he was pretty happy to get clothes and would have rather me left his "jacket" on him than take it off for him to wear tomorrow to Grandma's.   Tongue

So, tomorrow, my grandmother is having birthday party for her dog.  Yes, crazy, I am well aware of that, but regardless, my beloved puppy needed appropriate clothing.  (He doesn't normally wear clothes, so I didn't have anything at home.) What's a crafty girl to do?  Go to the Dollar Tree dollar store and find a 18 month size long sleeve Adidas raglan style shirt for $1 and recon it.  I had a "Top Dog" iron on I had picked up a couple days ago for $.97 at JoAnns.  Then, I went to work.  PJ would like to tell you the story.

Katie, it's too baggy for me!

Fix it, please???

Look at it now!!! It fits!

Look, I'm top dog!

I'm helping with the snap!

The attitude shot.

So, I cut the back of the shirt, sewed hems, added velcro, and a snap.  It was pretty easy!

18  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: CAN ANYONE ID THIS YARN!? on: December 18, 2007 09:19:08 PM
Before I decided that I was going to make the MJ slippers, I was thinking of a drop-stitch scarf... the yarn is so fun and when you knit it you don't see the colors as much so I think with the drop stitch sections in a drop stitch scarf it would show off the colors nice.  Good luck!

No problem!  I'm not usually that much of a yarn know-it-all but I'm making a pair of Mary Jane slippers with it so I knew it looked familiar.  :-P  What are you making with yours?

I know don't know the color but the yarn is called "black lites" and the brand is Bernat.

I have the cherry chill color right now... It's so nice and soft!
