11  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: R2D2 Beanie Hat (Star Wars) *Now* with link to free pattern/charts (page 3) on: November 29, 2006 08:44:04 AM
I knit up one of these cuties for my brother-in-law's Christmas gift. It worked up really quickly - under 2 days. I decided to knit it in the round instead of flat which worked pretty good, although there was a lot of time spent doing things to prevent tangling. Smiley

I knit the Zippered Men's Raglan from Last Minute Knitted Gifts for my husband. This project can only be defined as a labor of love. I don't think I'll be knitting him another sweater for a long, long time. You can read about my misadventures with the sweater on my blog. Smiley

KnittenChicken - that sweater turned out great! I'm glad you liked the color combo. I see that you had the last loop awkwardness with the edging too. I've yet to figure out how to make that not happen. Smiley

Ta da. I finished this up over the weekend.

The sleeves look very pretty but they only compound the crazy numbers of ends I have to weave in now. Argh.

off topic: ZiuZiu: I love the soaps in your etsy shop. I've been knitting washclothes like a crazy for Christmas gifts and I think I'm going to order a bunch of your soaps to match them. Smiley

sittenkitten: This second sweater I'm making is similar to the one I made for Emily. It's naturals, greens and purples, but uses a little more green I think. The colors are:

Silver Birch
Peridot
New Leaf
Lace Pink
Orchid Pink
Lotus Blosson
Grape

Plus for the sleeves, I did the stockinette in color # 4 and then striped the ribbing with all 7 colors. Just 6 rnds of each color gives you your 12" sleeve. See:

And on Emily's sweater I accidently did the increases on the 'top' and only later realized that it would be weird one way or the other so it's no big deal.

I'm pretty sure that there are a few people still working on this pattern. I'm currently on the edging of my second one. Smiley

I agree with soozeq. If you end up having a girl, you could always crochet a similar edging on.

You need to YO before and after each of the provisional cast on sections. You're math includes the before, but not the after which should give you your 2 more stitches.

Helpful??

Thanks for all the compliments.  Cheesy

Yep. Chloe_hippy got it all right.

I used elann.com Peruvian Highland Wool in the following colors: Silver Birch, Dried Herb, New Leaf, Oregano, Lotus Blossom, Grape, Autumn Purple.

If you make the child's version, you could probably make two out of the yarn you're told to purchase for one. You just have to make them in reverse color order.

I made this as part of a KAL and there's more discussion about it here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=107748.0 and on my blog.
