1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Pleat front shirt help? on: January 10, 2013 05:33:45 PM
You could pleat the fabric and baste them in place, then use a regular pattern to cut out your shirt fronts.  Use the directions for pleating the hem of the beige skirt...

That's a great idea! Thank you, I will try that Smiley cheers
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Pleat front shirt help? on: December 26, 2012 05:40:21 PM
Hi! I'm going to make a Clara Oswald costume (Doctor Who! Smiley ) using the pattern below. The bustier in the pattern is too low cut and is not pleated like I need it to be, so I am only using the coat and skirt parts of the pattern. However, I'm having a problem finding a front pleated shirt pattern to use in the bustier's place and I've never done pleats before (big learning project for me!).

Costume I am making: http://www.neontommy.com/sites/default/files/users/user918/lookathershe'ssocute.jpg
Pattern: http://www.simplicity.com/p-6060-misses-steampunk-costume.aspx

So basically what I'm asking is 1. any pleat-front patterns? (free would be great but doesn't have to be) 2. tutorials on shirt pleats?

and ofc any other ideas or comments would be super helpful Smiley thank you in advance!
