1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What scarf pattern is this? on: December 15, 2009 09:46:17 PM
Does anyone know what this stitch is called, and where I can get the pattern for it? I saw it at the yarn store today, but she said someone had taken her last copy Sad It was a scarf.

Helps if I add a photo!

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / right side/wrong side crochet question on: April 13, 2009 09:36:26 PM
Okay, so I've been crocheting for quite awhile now, mostly amigurumi, but this is something that I'm still continually confused about. I always think I've figured it out, but I'm never quite sure.

Which side is the right side of a crocheted piece? I think it's picture two, but it's picture one that is the spiral side when you look downwards on it, if that makes sense, which is what always confuses me.

Someone clear this up for me, please!

3  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Question for Vegans on: June 28, 2007 12:40:00 PM
What kind of stuff do you guys order when you eat out at restaurants?

I've been a vegetarian for about thirteen years now, and I'm currently making a slow transition into being completely vegan. I already don't eat eggs, milk, yogurt, etc (because I hate the taste), but I do eat rennet free cheese, and I loooove cheese. It's a staple in my diet, especially out at restaurants, and I eat out with people a lot. Most places have gardenburgers, but those aren't vegan, and my other fallback is pasta, but that's out too. I hate mushrooms, spinach, eggplant, and other vegan restaurant staples, so am I stuck eating salad or avoiding restaurants all together? Do you guys find stuff to eat at most places?
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What does this mean? on: March 21, 2006 03:56:50 AM
I'm making a square shaped baby hat, with tassels on the end.

After binding off, the pattern says: FINISHING: Fold piece lengthwise. Sew top and side seam, reversing last 3 ins [7.5 cm] for turnback.

What does it mean by "reversing the last 3 inches"? I'm not sure what "turnback" is, and I can't find any reference to something similar in my knitting books.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting needle sets on: February 19, 2006 08:19:09 PM
I started knitting a couple weeks ago, and I've picked it up pretty quick. I've had no trouble learning anything at all (from a book even), which is amazing because I couldn't get the hang of crocheting at all.

Anyway, I'm in school and I have so little spare time that I want to buy all the tools I'm going to need in one shot. I did a search and I know the denise interchangeable needles are preferred, so I'll probably get those unless anyone has any other set recommendations. I did see some bamboo ones that were pretty nice.

What should I get in addition to the denise set so that I don't need to order online or run to the craft store each time? There's no yarn stores in the area where I live, so it's a pain to have to go a bunch. I don't have any DPN's, circulars, or other knitting accessories. Can anyone tell me what stuff I am likely going to need? Like what size DPNs, other circulars, other small needles, etc?

Thanks
juli

6  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Wool for felting on: May 27, 2005 09:03:39 PM
If any of you do felting, where do you get your wool roving from? I have been to three craft/fabric stores in SD and no one has any idea what I'm talking about when I ask for it. I can order online, I was just hoping to get some this weekend. What kind of stores sell it?
