Challenge: Bean-- Toast
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Banana Sugar Cookies
Iron Chef Hogwarts: Banana!
Project Description: I veganized a sugar cookie recipe! And it turned out super good!  I started with the wilton Roll out cookie recipe (here)  I then replaced the egg with one medium sized mashed banana. I used earth balance butter.  And then, to get the right consistency to roll it out, I added extra flour.  So I used 3 1/2 cups of flour.  They turned out really good.

The glaze I made was really just eyeballed but was about:
3 TBSP earth balance butter
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup almond milk
and about 2 cups of powdered sugar
(though the powdered sugar could be a little more or less. If you end up with a too thick add I tiny bit of milk, or too thin add a bit more sugar)
food coloring for color

To glaze
put glaze in a plastic sandwich baggy and snip a TINY corner off of the bottom.  Outline the outside of the cookie with they glaze and let it set up.  Then take the glaze and fill in the center.  Use a toothpick to help you spread it to the edge of your outline!  Let it set up!  YUM!

I started a project at the end of January and quickly realized that this project was actually NEWT level work.  After talking to our wonderful headmistress, she has agreed that I can pursue this new project as a NEWT!  I have to have these pieces done by March 1st.  So I will have put the 4 weeks worth of work into them by the time I'm done.

NEWT Proposal: Muggle Studies
House: Slytherin
Project Name: CityScape into Night
Project Description: I am studying Muggle cities.  Wizards have always had to live in small villages or covertly among muggles.  So we don't have our own cities.  We must blend into large cities like London, Paris, and New York.  So I started to look at how muggle cities look, how they live in, and how they sit in the countryside.  I found that (while flying on my broom) muggle cities are very beautiful during sunset.  As the sun disappears and the city lights come on there is a magicalness to the electricity that they use.  Muggles really are very fascinating!

I am going to be using several panels of 8x10 mat board of various colors to show a muggle city as night falls. And the countryside around it.  So far I have three panels planned.  If I finish them more quickly than the 4 week time period (by end of February) than I will be adding extra panels.  Up to six!  So that I will have two triptychs!  Super excited for this project!  I'm going to be entering these into an art exhibit!

These pictures are really horrible because the pencil outline just doesn't show up very well.  When I add paint they are really going to pop!

8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Horrible Spinach Squash Pie! on: February 04, 2016 07:27:46 AM
I've been trying to make new vegan recipes to expand on my meal plan.  Especially things that can be more than one meal.  So when I came across a yellow squash pie recipe I was excited.  But after I made the filling I knew that it was going to be awful!   Cry The spinach was just all wrong with the rest of the flavors!  Gross gross gross gross!  I did love the sauteed yellow squash and onion before I put it in the pie though...so maybe it wasn't a complete loss.  But I will not be trying to "fix" this recipe!  Tongue

It was so pretty when it came out of the oven.  The zucchini strips made it so cute!

I've spent the week packing up packages of crafty things and supplies that I am sending to people after I get money.  The massive mailing should clear up a tiny square of floor.  I started going through NON craft stuff to see if I can pare down on things there.  I ended up FINDING more stuffs that I want to craft with! *headesk* There is no hope for me!  I found a jar full of glass marbles and rocks! ROCKS! (I was obsessed with collecting pretty rocks as a kid. So I have a lot of random rocks) The larger ones I set out in the garden to look pretty and help mark plants in the spring.  The tiny ones I went through and decided on a few other crafts.  I am going to wire wrap a few of the polished ones into pendents for my mom and me.  A handful of them will seemed perfect for a mobile.  And the rest, if they had any kind of flat side, I decided would get embedded into some paving stones for the garden.  The marbles will go to the same fate.

I'm not going to be doing anything bird related...so no stash busting there.
And the closest I got to stripes was some swirly fabric that I am using on a small wall hanging for my sister.
I did the first block yesterday!

Sorry if you've seen it on another board already. I'm just super happy with how it turned out.
10  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / my 1st square ever! on: January 31, 2016 01:40:12 PM
okay.  so it's not a completed quilt but I'm pretty proud of myself with this little block and can't wait to make a full project with it!

I got the pattern from FandominStitches

I'm going to do some more simple blocks and then make a nine block hanging for my sister!  Super excited!
